I am looking at the red on the armour on the back of the Skaarac the Bloodborn. I don't own this mini, but I thought it might look good on some of Khorne minis I have or hell even paint up storm cast eternals in this colour. Thing is, how do I do it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated since I want to buy some paints this weekend and start painting again. After seeing this, and reading comments on the forums I am motivated to paint again. I just don't know how to start this colour scheme.

It looks like maybe Khorne Red mixed with Abbadon Black for the base coat, then Nuln Oil wash. Then stipling highlighted with Evil Sun Scarlet and maybe a lighter red highlight after that layer. The sheen looks like it is just a glossy varnish like 'Ard Coat.

If it's anything like this:

Then it involves painting a metallic (silver/brass) base coat followed by airbrushing thin layers of Tamiya clear red on top.

I'm using FW Angron Red airbrush paint over Leadbelcher with silver highlights and Army Painter Dark Tone shading for my Word Bearers. I find it much easier than the Tamiya to work with.

Thanks guys, been ages since I bought new paint. Will make a list and get what was suggested and try them out.

Moved to a forum where you'll probably get much more feedback (although what I've seen here already is pretty darned good).

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
