So me and a buddy just started playing X-Wing and we are both enjoying it. Seeing as we will continue to play X-Wing i figured i should look into what faction i want to run, and the Scum spoke to me. I made this list using this site so i have no idea where the specific cards and upgrades i am using come from, but i can get all the ships i want from just 2 Most Wanted sets, which is good.

PIRATE FLGHT 96 points

PILOTS

Syndicate Thug (25) Y-Wing (18), Ion Cannon Turret (5), Salvaged Astromech (2)

Syndicate Thug (26) Y-Wing (18), Ion Cannon Turret (5), R4-B11 (3)

Black Sun Soldier (15) Z-95 Headhunter (13), XX-23 S-thread Tracers (1), Munitions Failsafe (1)

Black Sun Soldier (15) Z-95 Headhunter (13), XX-23 S-thread Tracers (1), Munitions Failsafe (1)

Black Sun Soldier (15) Z-95 Headhunter (13), XX-23 S-thread Tracers (1), Munitions Failsafe (1)

The plan is to have the Y-wings Ion the enemy and let the Z-95s finish them off. The Z-95s all have Thread Tracers so they can help each other if need be. This is for casual btw.

It's a decent start but without Stress causing tricks Ion Cannons are a bit mehh and the range 2 limit is quite annoying at times, if you have Twin Laser Turrets switch to them instead

I'd also maybe go for either the Unhinged Astromech or the Overclocked Astromech on the Thugs, the Unhinged really opens up the dial and the Overclocked can help smooth out TLT output a fair bit

I'm not a fan of Black Sun Z95's, the extra 1pt of PS doesn't seem to make that much difference, I'd drop them to Binaye and maybe consider Feedback Arrays over the Tracers

Im looking at the Feedback array and im not seeing the attraction, ionize and damage myself to damage the other guy? Ya, not seeing it.

I do however see the attraction of Twin Laser Turrets, that is a lot of firepower there. Ill see how Ion Works for me, and if im underwhelmed ill swap to the Twin Lasers.

As to the Black Sun, it was 1 point so i figured, WTH?

When you have zero chance of damaging an ace through dice, automatic damage from the zapper becomes quite attractive.

What Mathieu said.

A lot of high-PS, high agility ships like to be out of arc at range one. Often times those same ships are very fragile and Feedback Array is unavoidable damage that their dice and tokens are useless against.

The core of your list (2 Y-Wings with turrets and 3 z-95s) is fine; how well it works will depend on which upgrades you choose, and how well you fly your ships.

I will make the specific suggestion of using Twin Laser Turrets on your Y-Wings, and using either Unhinged Astromech, R4 Agromechs, or the R5-P8 (the painbot). For your Z-95s, I would suggest either leaving them completely without upgrades, or giving them Concussion Missiles or Homing Missiles. If you're going to use missiles, Guidance Chips are pretty much mandatory. Glitterstim is an okay upgrade for missile ships, and feedback array is a very effective way to deal with enemy aces. I would not pay to upgrade them to the PS4 or PS3 generic pilots, unless you're getting killed by swarms of PS3 or PS4 ships.

My specific suggestion for a squad would be:

Syndicate Thug (18)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Unhinged Astromech (1)

Syndicate Thug (18)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
R5-P8 (3)

Binayre Pirate (12)
Concussion Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)

Binayre Pirate (12)
Concussion Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)

Binayre Pirate (12)
Concussion Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)

Total: 100

...there are a lot of different ways to do this, so don't consider this a "definitive" squad list or anything. Experiment a bit.

Alternatively, if you decide not to go the missile route, you can use those points for Feedback Arrays and load bombs onto your y-wings. Make them regret tailing you.
