Looking at it i have to question what the hell you do with this thing. My first instinct is to stick Kyle Katarn, the Moldy Crow title, and the Recon Specialist and just hand out Focus tokens. As for the Scum....Moldy Crow piloted by Polab Godalhi and just fly around stealing peoples Focus tokens?

Kyle and Jan can both be nice but it depends on who you pair them with.

The Scum HWKs on the other hand are nasty... Like deceptively good, especially with the introduction of Twin Laser Turret.

Taking a second look at it i can see Dace Bonearm working well with a few Ion Turret Y-Wings, Torkil Mux im not entirely sure what id do with, except have fun going "Haha i go first"

My most successful build was Jan with Wired and a TLT.

Alongside a VI Jake Farrell and Poe Dameron, she attacked last and so was invariably stressed, which meant she got a lot of mileage out of Wired.

Won several games, what was initially an experiment turned out to be surprisingly good. In fact, for all his, deserved, praise, it was Poe I would have looked to have swapped out, largely because he's a bullet magnet.

Nahh Dace is fairly weak, he's quite over-costed, high PS on the HWK isn't worth much, his ability is hamstrung by the stress token cost, and not being able to do it if already stressed, the damage sounds like a good idea but given you'd have to take Ion Turts or Cannons, which don't do damage it just doesn't add up

Torkil and Palob on the other hand are a lot of fun and costed low enough that you can put them in lists instead of TLT thugs. Both their abilitys are strong and can cause shifts in the way the opposing player acts just on the threat of their ability

The Rebel ones are a bit average, Jan can be good but I still think she is a tad overcosted, most likely as a safeguard to stop her ability doing anything too gross

Well i figured id whip up a list with w HWK and this is the insanity that i got.

FOCUS FOR DAYS

100 points

PILOTS

Palob Godalhi (33)
HWK-290 (20), Rage (1), Twin Laser Turret (6), Recon Specialist (3), Moldy Crow (3)

N’Dru Suhlak (24)
Z-95 Headhunter (17), Assault Missiles (5), Lone Wolf (2), Guidance Chips (0)

Kaa’to Leeachos (20)
Z-95 Headhunter (15), Concussion Missiles (4), Deadeye (1), Guidance Chips (0)

Syndicate Thug (23)
Y-Wing (18), Proton Torpedoes (4), Unhinged Astromech (1)

Godahli stocks up some focus, and then starts Rage blasting things with Kaa'to watching his back and stealing Tokens from the enemy. Suhlak meanwhile is flying around away from them and just hammering whatever he can get hi sights on. The Thug is just there to take up space and hopefully kill something with a Proton Torpedo.

Honestly, this is pretty bad.

Palob with rage is terrible. You can't clear the double stress effectively, so you end up with a one-use EPT that cripples your maneuvering actions if you ever want dice modification once the stored focus tokens run out. And you can't count on Palob getting to steal tokens, since your opponent won't focus when they know you're just going to steal it. Palob's ability is really a "no focus/evade allowed" zone, not a way to give himself tokens.

N'dru is not bad. The only real issue is that you should find a way to get glitterstim on there. Between re-rolling a blank, turning all eyes to hits, and turning one other result to a hit you can reliably get 4-5 hits and the splash damage. Alternatively, give N'dru a homing missile and crack shot (with glitterstim and chips of course) to make him a nasty ace killer.

Leech is not bad here. With the HWK as a focus battery you can probably afford to steal one for the alpha strike, and his EPT slot lets you take deadeye. Just consider him a one-shot weapon, after the missile is gone he's pretty much garbage.

The thug is terrible. One torpedo, without even having extra munitions, on a y-wing is just not good enough. And I'm assuming that the lack of guidance chips was a typo, not a deliberate choice. If you don't even have chips then it's even worse than terrible.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Ok, so drop Rage, get Glitterstim on N'dru and dont forget that Guidance Chips are free.

So i swapped the Y-Wing out for a Z-95 as i can get more out of it, and it allows me to get some Glitterstim and more missiles. I couldnt think of what else to give Palob, so i figured since hes supporting anyway i may as well have him help remove Stress tokens.

Battleship Captain

There are a couple of nice interactions with scum hwks you can use:

Torkil doesnt just make you shoot last, he also makes you PS0 - therefore vulnerable to the full effect of predator and flight instructor.

Palob pairs well with opportunist which adds an attack die - indeed the x-wing definition of "adding insult to injury" is palob stealing your focus token, using that token to fire a blaster turret at you, and getting an extra attack die from opportunist 'because you don't have focus token'.

A pairing which works well is Torkil and Palob with a unique starviper or g-1a. Give the ace predator and a sensor jammer, and they can really make use of their pilot abilities - sensor jammer is AMAZING if you can deny your opponent focus tokens.

Boston

A shield regen biggs, recon spec/autoblaster turret HWK and 2 B-wing list was the winner of the FLGS weekly tournament last night.

I was the test run for the player when we met up Sunday (I was running Vader with Juke but no English), Autothrusters Inquisitor and VI Vessery (i think) and did not do well (2nd guessed myself into flying onto rocks a lot). It was a tough list in addition, though

Sometimes I run Dash-58 with the following HWK-290 (although lately I've moved on to Miranda as a wingman):

Jan Ors
- Adaptability
- TLT
- Engine Upgrade
- Recon Specialist
- Moldy Crow

Hands Dash a nice 5-shot HLC, and helps cover the donut hole with the TLT.
