Not interested in poll results. There seems to be so much disdain for the 40k rules, would an AoS job on 40k be a desired outcome amognst the 40k discontented.

No. 40k's rules are bad. AoS's rules are arguably the single worst example of incompetence in the entire history of miniature wargaming.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

no, age of sigmar represents a line of thought that has, without exception, devestated long running games. the idea that "our games too complex, we need to dumb it down so the younger audicance can grasp it" those younger audiances can grasp stuff fine, the problem is that they'd for the most part rather be playing video games.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

No, AoS is bad and it's developers should feel bad.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

If you thought people hated 40k's rules

Wait until you see how people reacted to AoS's rules

Did you guys know Canada has a friggin desert?

Points are fething important. AoS got rid of points and fethed the game over. Also the way the rules are in general also are pretty gakky.

You're not playing the game like I play it...why aren't you playing the game like I play it?! O_O

At this point there isn't much difference.

Between formations, allies, and detachments and whatnot there's basically no meaningful structure to army construction of background adherence and increasingly little relevance to the concept of a points system, with increasingly absurd abilities, freebies, and unit types being made available with just about every release.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

If one likes the core idea of the rules, but want them tidied up then AoS would satisfy them - IMO it is a much better, easy to get in and streamlined 40k without losing any tactical depth (which we already know is not in abundance in 40k anyway - the game itself is an excuse for you to collect the models and play out mind fantasies with them). If one doesn't like the game as it is at all then no amount of fixing will satisfy him.

Why not. A small global rule set and warscrolls for units.

The basic idea of AoS rules is not new nor is it bad.
(it works well for X-Wing too)

But the rules themselves are even worse than the one 40k has and I don't believe GW will do it better the next time

What is the basic idea of AoS according to you? I don't understand the x-wing reference,

Compared to 40k, what aspects of the AoS are worse than 40k? I think that they're close enough so we can compare them. Also let's leave the lack of points out of this please

Why? Lack of points is a fundamental part of the AoS design concept. If you want to have a discussion about AoS but assume that AoS doesn't suck then we're no longer dealing with reality and I don't see any chance of a constructive discussion. AoS with points is no longer AoS.

Measuring everything based on models, not bases. This creates absurd situations where, for example, a model with a long spear can not turn 180* because the tip of the spear would move more than the model's movement distance, but is free to move and fight backwards. Or where models on sufficiently large or tall bases are immune to melee combat because you can't get the models to touch.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
