After watching Fury one too many times, I decided to start playing Guard for the love of tanks. I picked up a Baneblade around Christmas, and still haven't decided how I'm going to use it. I also got the Mont'Ka book for the Baneblade rules and the additional formations. Keeping in mind I'm more for tanks than anything, this is a list I put together earlier today. Although I don't play in a super competitive local meta, I would like a well-rounded force and be able to have a chance against all opponents. Any and all suggestions welcome!

Command: Battle Group Command

Tank Commander Pask, Leman Rss Punisher, Heavy Bolter Sponsons - 230pts
Leman Rus Executioner, Plasma Cannon Sponsons - 185pts

Core: 'Emperor's Fist' Armoured Company

Tank Commander, Leman Russ Vanquisher, Lascannon, Multi Melta Sponsons - 205pts
Leman Russ Vanquisher, Lascannon - 145pts

Leman Russ Battle Tank - 150pts
Leman Russ Battle Tank - 150pts
Leman Russ Exterminator, Heavy Bolter Sponsons - 150pts

Enginseer - 40pts

Auxiliary: 'Emperor's Blade' Assault Company

Company Command Squad, 2x Plasma Gun, Carapace Armour, Chimera with Heavy Flamer - 165pts

Veteran Squad, 2x Meltagun, Chimera with Heavy Flamer and Dozer Blade - 150pts
Veteran Squad, 2x Meltagun, Chimera with Heavy Flamer and Dozer Blade - 150pts
Veteran Squad, 2x Meltagun, Chimera with Heavy Flamer and Dozer Blade - 150pts

Hellhound - 125pts

Total - 1,995pts

Fully aware there's a lack of bodies at this point level, and no anti-air, I also have these models already:
Spoiler:
3x Wyvern
2x Basilisk
5x Ratlings
3x Primaris Psykers
3x Bullgryns
Baneblade (unbuilt)
3x Heavy Weapons Squads (unbuilt)
10x Tempestus Scions (2x Meltagun)
Valkyrie with Multilaser and Hellstrike Missiles

It's hard to make the Cadian Battle Group work in smaller games, but it's possible at 2000. I think the Assault Company is a good combo with the tanks.

Consider replacing the Battle Cannon tanks with others. The autocannon Russ is good, and there's others.

I must admit, the formations are a bit of a let down in that they're so expensive compared to others. The Assault Company works well as it comes with four objective securing units, which is enough at a 2,000pt level when they're likely to be disregarded in favour of removing the various heavy tanks. I can also include the Emperors Wrath Artillery formation, which is nothing to be sniffed at.

Unfortunately the Battle Tanks are already built and glued in place. I usually play a standard CAD list with two Battle Tanks due to the sheer amount of Marine armies in my local meta. I have included an Exterminator in the list, but the long range AP3 likely to cause instant death is more attractive due to my usual opponents.

If you're looking for a way to get your baneblade into the list its difficult to tell you what to drop in order to fit it in. I'd start with dropping the assault company in place of a regular platoon. Start with the minimum 1 pcs and 2 infantry add in the baneblade variant you want and build the rest of the platoon around it.

I tend to arm exterminators with a Lascannon hull mount and no sponsons ..(the LC just seems to work in synergy with the AC when killing MC/GMC or popping Light/Medium Tanks)
I have tried PAsk Punisher a few times and rarely get the points back (seems its a big expensive bullet magnet that the enemy does not want getting in its ranks)

A couple of standard LRBT is never a bad idea makes up for the lack of artillery on this list ..

Have you heard of the Battlegroup Hammerblow formation? It's a good way to run a Baneblade.

Hererford, leo

I would swap the vanquishers out with annihilators (twinlinked las 130pts) and swap the LRBTs with exterminators & executioners, also take the bane wolf.
