Subject: B@C how would you build it?

Hey guys i'm building up my B@C armies and I'm stuk on what weapons to kit them out with. I'm building them up as Ultramarines and word bearers with the aim of making them bigger in the future. I do not have the funds to buy another so that suggestion is out the window.
So guys help a battle brother out? What do you recommend.

from a gameplay stand-point, trying to build 2 armies out of calth doesn't really work all to well. IF your heart is set on the idea, build them up the way the game does it:
centurion(doesn't have to be a chaplain, as any console can take a power maul), 20 marines (2 10-man tactical squads, not vet. tactical squads), and a contemptor on 1 side
vs.
Praetor, 10 marines (again, regular tactical expand better) and 5 terminators on the other side.
however, we're you to build them as 1 army (I would recommend), I would go:
1 praetor
1 centurion (champion or Master of Signals)
2 15-man tactical squads w/ kitted out sergeants
1 5-man power fist terminator squad w/ h. flamer
1 contemptor w/ kheres & fist
This gives you easy room to expand, isn't restricted to an iffy right of war, and fits basically any legion as a rough starting point.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field. |

Like Brennonjw says, if all you want to ever buy is 1 box of Betrayal at Calth, I would build them the way the B@C game has them. I'd recommend only building one army out of the box (unless you are the only player and you are building it so that you'll have everything you need to play a 2-man game)
If you wanted to build just WBers, just keep in mind that there is a special rule called Dark Channeling from which the WBers derive alot of their flavor, but its only available to certain units...iirc these are Tac Squads, Breacher Squads, Assault Squads, Vet squads, and Terminators. The rule IMO is kind of wasted on Breacher Squads and Terminators, and currently Assault Marines are unreasonably expensive on points...but the rule is so delicious on big Tac Squads w/ CC weapons added, and also on CC Vet Squads with Furious Charge, so those are probably worth considering for Word Bearers out of the PA models.
The "Dark Apostle" model that comes in the box is kitted out exactly like High Chaplain Erebus wargear-wise, so that's how I'd recommend using that, that's what I've done, anyways (but with a different head).
And the Dred could stand as-is or with a bit of conversion become a Mhara Ghal (a legion-specific WBer Contemptor Dread that costs a ton of points and has fancy rules)
I don't know anything Ultramarine in HH so I can't help out there.

If you're stuck on building 2 armies out of the box, ok, but I wouldn't do that. You can get a solid foothold of an army with the units included in the box, for both Ultras and WB. Like stated above, dark channeling is very good - possibilities are vast. Ultras can use these too, running 3 tactical units, termies and the dread. The centurion as he's modeled is quite good. There are 4-bladed axes as well so I just say it's an axe and I haven't gotten any grief yet.
I would pick 1 legion you want to play and start there with the BaC box. That is what I did with my Raven Guard. I ended up buying another contemptor from a buddy and ordering a 5 plasma support squad off ebay that was built using BaC bits. $25 for 5 plasma, melta, flamer or rocket dudes isn't terrible at all.
My 2 cents.

I would recommend building them with glue. Plastic or super preferably .
My honest recommendation? Buy BL novesl about the Ultras/Word Bearers and see what grabs you more. Whichever legion you like better should be the one you go with. You won't get very far in starting 30k if you start multiple legions at once without being wealthy haha.

Thought for the day: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
30k Ultramarines: 2000 pts
Bolt Action Germans: ~1200 pts
AOS Stormcast: Just starting.
The Empire : ~60-70 models.
1500 pts
