Hello good sirs and ladies. I have an urgent request for help with a little something:
I work at the Lancashire Infantry museum and recently I have been asked for ways to get more people into the museum. One idea I had was to have a few old (Win.XP) machines running some old military themed games. We have a few ideas but I wonder if any of you could come up with some WW2 themed games, preferably around Normandy and Northern France.

Depending on how old, operation flash point and the other sim style games(name escapes me) could be interesting.

You can set them up to run a bunch of scenarios designed around a theme, players could even work together depending on the setup.
I am almost certen there would be mods catering to everything you want. But would take more effort to set up than other Games.
I think one of the call of duty games has both Normandy and Northan France missions, but I could not rember accurately otherwise :(

The "Close Combat" games were good WW2 RTS games.

The first Company of Heroes is amazing. The campaign follows the US army campaign in Normandy, from the beach landings, para drops, capture of Cherbourg, the Falaise Pocket etc. Very nice game still.

Another is as mentioned Call of Duty, 2 is liked better than 3 imho opinion. Although 3 is more involved in France from a British/Canadian/US perspective. 2 is only shortly focused on France while 3, iirc, only stays in France.

Others are Medal of Honor, Band of Brothers (also well liked). The Close Combat Series is also very nice, although it might be less intuitive.

Hearts of Iron may be worth looking at but its probably too complex for the average museum goer and it doesn't have much in the way of visual spectacle.

How about something like Panzer General? That will run on a calculator and give a reasonable WWII 'experience'. Unity of Command and Panzer Corps are similar but more recent.

I can't think of a suitable game that will give you something visually spectacular, perhaps some of the CoH/CoH2 campaign missions?
