I just got a start collecting set. I am brand new to AoS and have no idea how to equip the boyz. Any idea about what equipment isn't useful at all and that i should avoid.? Anything in there that is a must have?

Well a good question is what comp you are using, if any. Secondly, do you plan to expand the unit? For a small unit going with choppas (or two choppas) is going to be the best option because of the rend, but for a 20+ man unit the 2" range on the spear will really pay off since a decent chunk of models will get to attack when they wouldn't have otherwise.

If you aren't sure what you may be expanding with (if at all) in the future, go with choppas and shields since that is a good all-around build that will be useful in almost any army.

Can you mix? Yeah I'll Deff be going 20+ in the future. What about boar boyz and bosses?

Like most units, they cannot mix weapon options. You will want a champion, a drummer, and two banners (one of each kind). For the boar boyz go with the choppa for sure; you already have some decent no-rend attacks from the pig itself and the 2" range spear wont make as much of a difference on a cavalry unit. They will want a champion, musician, and standard as well (only 1 standard since they only have one kind).
