The Story behind this KS

I struggled a lot with the first two kickstarters and honestly I was kinda burned out and that's why I took a break for a while. Doing this sculpture was refreshing as I had no pressure and I was just doing what I loved to do. At the same time, sharing it in such an intimate way, without trying to out do the gaming companies that present dozens of miniatures at once, is really a lot less stressing. Specially now that I've found, through trial and error, good vendors I can rely on. This is what I wanted when I first thought of making miniatures and I'm happy I'm finally finding my spot.
So now that this campaign is out I'm rethinking my whole "business plan" and thinking about taking the "business" part out (for the most part, at least). I have a day job that supports me and my family so I want to make miniatures just for the love of creating, sharing and most of all: participating on the creative process of others through the painting and kit bashing.
Regarding the subject matter, it's no secret that I have a preference for the ladies but that is not going to be all I'll ever sculpt. In fact, now that I'm returning to my original intentions, I want to go back to writing as I create characters. Just like the stories I wrote in the first KS of For-Ha. In fact I want to continue writing that story. So minis will include heroes, monsters, clothed girls... and a pin-up or nude every now and then.
So the plan is going to be to sit down and sculpt... and sharing the sculpt with you through KS... hopefully they all get funded. I'm thinking one a month.
What do you guys think? Please, write to me or make a comment. Previous backers know that there is nothing I enjoy more than engaging in conversations with my friends. I like receiving feedback and talking about different possibilities.
I need your help spreading the word!
In the KS body you'll find some sample facebook and twitter posts to share it and a sample email with images. I want this miniature and I'm doing all I can to get it made. If you want it, please help me out.

Honestly, if you want to make any money off this you should probably do a better job of sculpting. Even if I wanted a miniature of a naked woman for some reason I wouldn't pay money for this one.

That's what I came here to say.

Generally they're thinner at the top, and fuller at the bottom- if they're natural. Think of jello in a balloon. Gravity should pull them down.

Maybe he was going for the "bolt on" look.

Regarding the subject matter, it's no secret that I have a preference for the ladies

I strongly believe there needs to be room in the miniatures world for every kind of miniature, and no one should ever be ashamed of the subject matter they choose to sculpt or purchase. That said, there's something I find very sleazy about trying to tie the subject matter to the sculptor/purchasers' sexual orientation. If you sculpt what I believe to be a quality miniature, I'll consider buying it. If you try to portray the miniature as some kind of natural outgrowth of sexual attraction to women, I'm going to think the company is a little bit insecure, put it in the same mental space where I record the memory of Axe Body Spray, and go spend my money on miniatures that are willing to engage me as a customer without getting my sex life involved.

The sculpt is ok.

Personally I find a less is more approach is more attractive in an art form. Once you pass over into overt sexuality, it's no longer art and it beomes porn. It may just be my own lines in the sand, but I'd say there's a general precedent for that. I mean, it's not the kind of model I'd put in a display case. I'm quite certain my kids and mother-in-law would have a few pointed questions for me.

If I'm keeping it in a "hidden" place for my own enjoyment, I've got aeons of porn at the click of a mouse at my disposal. I don't think it hits anything outside of a very niche market.

I'd also suggest that snake-hair would draw this back from the porn category. It turns the tables on the "predatory" scale. The model has the power, so to speak.

A crop-top and a pair of panties would make this model playful, instead of... what it is. As it is, it's almost like it's trying to push boundaries because it can. The model feels like it's trying too hard.

I generally expect some degree of non-realism / idealism when it comes to women in any medium (sculpting, pictures of any kind, even films), however this is kind of silly. Those are really, really, really hilariously gravity defying.

Now I don't agree that is a bad sculpture and I can argue that very technically. if the breasts don't look right is because they look like fake sillicone breasts...not bad sculpted ones.

Regarding the marketing... I don't feel ashamed of my product... I start my post by saying how proud I am of it! However, I understand that in the minature niche, there is people that collect female miniatures (a.k.a. the ladies) and some other people that are not interested in those because they do not fit in a war game scenario. I appreciate the feedback, though and I will think of better ways of saying "This is targeted to this specific segment" in smarter ways. However I wanted to be clear about my intentions.

Again, although this is harsh criticism, it's much better than indifference. If you guys know someone who might be interested in the subject matter, please help me spread the word.

I actually joined (almost) just for commenting on this. (I must think I have a very important opinion!)
I don't think it's a bad sculpt. The breasts are… not the most natural, and the torso looks a bit long to me, but otherwise it's well made and reasonably priced. And I don't have a problem with your marketing.
But that miniature doesn't appeal to me as a painter, because there are just two parts to it – skin, and hair. I want more materials and textures, or at least a more dynamic pose. If you really are just aiming for collectors, I guess that's not very relevant (and there's a pretty big wargames company that's stated that they share that philosophy, so it must be viable…) but if you want to widen your target audience significantly and catch the painters as well, there needs to be some incentive to painting it. Not saying it needs to be covered in intricacies, but… something more. Some flowing cloth. Some primal-looking bones-and-feathers decoration. A couple of little pets. Because if I'm looking for a blank canvas, I'll just go for… well, an actual canvas, that lets me paint whatever I want. A sculpt needs more.
Still though, nothing beats doing what you love, so good luck with the project

I'm not overly fond of the sculpt, to be honest. But, it presents an entire blank canvas to practice tattoo freehand to me, and it isn't as bad as some models I've seen.

I probably won't buy it at this scale, but if you did it at 30mm, I probably would get a copy.

I suggest doing some research (you might even enjoy it, if you like naked women so much). Real breasts are still going to obey gravity even when your arms are above your head. It's going to change the shape, yes, but you're still not going to have weird looking spheres. There are plenty of pictures you can find for a reference on this.

Sure, but you don't have to sell every part of the journey. All you're doing by making kickstarters with your first sculpting attempts is damaging your brand image by associating your name with low-quality efforts like this. Spend some time practicing, get it right, and then think about trying to make some money.

Might want to re-read that criticism. Even if you come in from a position of "I want miniatures of naked women" this is still a terrible model. The sculpt is just bad, and the weird unrealistic breasts are just the most obvious part of it. Marketing to different people isn't going to help with this problem.

And also that one investing in your kickstarter must be rather crazy or simply has far too much money.

How so? $35us for a 75mm collectors piece model is hardly on the expensive end of the hobby.

Okay folks, let's just let the thread fall down the page if you're not interested (after having expressed as much).

I've also updated the title to be more descriptive, as I think that was part of the issue.

The sculpt alone drives me off.
I (<-- as in my opinion) think its a waste of money. And i sure as hell like boobies. But still as others have pointed out, i see no fun in coloring this model as the sculpt is totally not mine and this whole thing seems designed! (as i see in OP its digital and not yet sculpted!) horribly and seems to be a call to just buy it for Bewbs which i think is pathetic.

This is my opinion, think as you like. its your money

I think this is primarily the issue. I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that when most people see a nude sculpt they assume it to be all-natural. I'm guessing you used a model for reference on at least some of the anatomy?

After giving it a second look, besides the breasts(which can be explained by surgical enhancement) the feet/lower leg definitely need some improvement. Either the feet are too small, or the lower leg needs to be extended.

I got my ass kicked here... well good. Based on your feed back and went back and re sculpted the breast and extended the feet. And I agree it does look a lot better.


I don't agree with "a call to just buy it for the Bewbs". Most of my art superheros have plain nudes. I wanted to do mine and wanted to share it. Priced it real low so it's a small thing. Not trying to get rich exploiting women here!

Anyways. Thank you for the criticism. It impacted positevely my sculpt and I appreciate it.

That's not the issue as far as I can tell. There's nowt wrong with nudity in art (though I'm less tolerant of cheesecake, which this doesn't seem to be). The issue is more of who this is aimed at. It's too large to be used by any of us wargamers and, if you'll forgive the harsh criticism, it's not good enough to be a standalone "art" piece. Just who is this aimed at?

Its ok - be better with snakes as hair - likely sell better as well I'd be tempted to get a 28mm one

Who is it aimed at? Some people like these figures. I like them... and I don't think it is crazy to think I can find 100 people in this world that like it enough to spare $25. Again, not trying to fit a bill here but to do what I like and see if I can find like-minded people to share it with.

I can see it in some slaanesh temple at this scale.
Now for me the hair is the only thing to me that looks odd
It mite be the format but it looks like tubes and that's why the I think so many say make it snakes
