**not a pricing thread**
having said that. . .
the prices for the warden's upgrade sprue are simply amazing, and a continued shame that GW got out of the bits market. While the price is high, (and I've made it clear that I'm down on recasts), what have others done for stand ins? Personally, I'm considering using my TE Riptide Heavy Burst Cannons, but what are other people doing about it?

Since I'm doing a renegade knight, I'm using the hades autocannon from the forgefiend.

EBay has yielded the most consistency in finding knight bits. I too feel your pain. Why GW why no upgrade sprues?

Dreamforge Games has a 15mm scale Leviathan model. One of the weapons (available separately) is a giant gatling gun style weapon.
I've actually converted a Knight using the Lord of Skulls Torso and parts from the Leviathan. Honestly, the ability to swap out weapons options (as a design feature of the Leviathan) is awesome. Something that should have been engineered into the Knight.

Engineering something like swappable parts into a Knight would have been easy. It would go against GW's business plan though. They want you to buy as many Knights as possible, even when it's only for one or two bits. This should not be a surprise to you. They have been doing it for years.
+1 for the Dreamforge Levithan Vulkan Cannon. Curiously enough, the right handed Vulkan Cannon seems to be sold out... LOL

For the imperial-conscious minded converter, maybe the punisher gattling cannon from the Leman Russ?

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Why not get the DF Leviathan and count it as a knight?
It's a great kit (says the guy who still has his in a box...) and unlike some kits the weapons are interchangable.
I like the Knight a lot, a lot, a lot. But the Leviathan is a better kit.

because it doesn't have the same aesthetics at all and is really expensive compared to the knight starter kit.

I have the 28mm Leviathan mortis kit assembled and painted, It is a fantastic kit and the Mortis has a real chaos vibe to it. I have a right handed vulkan cannon on order to field the dual vulkan cannon knight in my chaos army.

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies. |

The aesthetics thing I can understand......but the cost????? You can get the 15mm Leviathan on ebay for $40, I've seen it for as low as $32 when it is on special clearance on some distributor's websites.
