So I was just stripping my groups' shared Dark Angels (From Dark Vengeance) to repaint them because hopefully new people will like prettier models.

Anyway, after stripping them down in Dettol I noticed the plastic was a much lighter shade of grey than regular GW plastic - it feels the same and behaves the same but looks different. I was the one who originally painted them and I still have the sprues, so I can see the difference in them. It's not really a problem, painting them is going well, but I'm just wondering is there any reason why the plastic would be lighter?

Plastic sometimes absorbs some of the paint. It's perfectly normal and shouldn't affect your future paintjob.

It's not effecting the paint at all, I was just curious.

Different Paints, spraypaints (lots of random VOC.'s), etc affect plastics in different ways. Don't worry about it.
