Title says it all. I struggle a lot against a tooled-up War Convo, especially since every time I've faced it they have Flesh Tearers Drop Pod Taxi Service as well. Having Stealth + Shrouded for 2 turns is just brutal, plus their shooting is just crazy when they always get a boost to their BS. When I faced one of these as Dark Angels, I just could not kill enough stuff to win. When I played against it as Tau a couple of times, I just didn't have enough markerlights to negate all that cover, and what markers I did have got shot off the board very quickly. What kind of tactics should I be using to beat them? It should be noted that when I played DA against it, I was not using a very optimized list. Too much gunline instead of bikes.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Ravenwing should do fairly well against war Convocation since they can dodge a lot of the shooting.

According to the all new faq, they can't take taxi drop pod any longer, always better than nothing.
IIRC, the doctrina imperatives depend of the numbers of squads having this special rule.
So, maybe try to focus on one aspect of his army (skitarii or cult mech) to deprive him from using the best ones.

I've only played against it with my necrons. When I did, I was running 3 units of tomb blades, two of which had the str6 blast weapons. One of them had the ap4 gauss shots. All of it ignoring cover. I was double-toughness-ID'ing and punching through kataphron 4+ armour with ease. So, I guess my recommendation is to take a lot of tomb blades. Or whatever your army has that ignores cover. Try that drone network thing, maybe?

Dunno what to do about it with DA. Take whirlwinds? Those would actually do really well. Bikes are great with their double-jinking and hammer of wrath hits. Or you could go rhino/razorback parking lot and hose them off the board with bolter fire.

Yeah, I think this is the best way to deal with it. As it's an army depending on number of units, focus on the weaker ones (try to kill 2-3 per turn). Their bonuses will quickly diminish in power.

Optimised Stealth Cadre is really good against Ad Mech. Doubles out toughness, gets through armour save, ignores cover and the Wall of Mirrors renders the IK Ion Shield useless.

Thanks for all the replies, guys! I actually managed to beat an Ad Mech player yesterday at a tournament (I was playing my Tau). I used the Drone Net and the Optimized Stealth Cadre. They really do work well against Ad Mech. I also realized that a couple of times I faced it in the past, my opponent used it wrong. He applied the Skitarii BS bonus to the whole army instead of just the Skitarii, which made it really powerful. Nice to know so I can call the guy out on it next time (gently, no fists or yelling involved, I promise!). The guy I played yesterday played it right. See the Tau Tactics thread for a mini batrep of how it went.

If he is dropping, then you need bubblewrap/keep your best things in reserve.

Most Skitarri and Cult mech things are glass cannon, except the knight and the MC unit of robots.
I suggest you ignore the knight(dont bunch up for it). If he wants to get into combat, try to sacrfise something and then shoot it in the back.
Tar-pit the robots if he takes them(they are SOO expensive)
Use your firepower to obliterate the destroyers and the vanguard.

Remember to play the mission, he wont have ObSec, not transports, and all his fast things are not durable (except the knight)

Remember... AP4 is just as good as Ap2 against skitarii and Kataphron destroyers. So Str 6 Ap4 is awesome against things like infiltrators and vanguard.
