@ El Vic - For results of my limited Apoxie Sculpt work, see my World Eaters thread, I have been smoothing out my Rhinos with it. (give me a few minutes, I am writing this post first, then I will move to that one!)
@ GiraffeX - What? Why limit your self to what GW gives you? You should definately give GS another chance! If the GS is giving you problems, there are lots of advice threads on Dakka to help. That is what I did to get familiar with it! My first big jump into GS was sculpting muscles for my Bloodletter! I look back at this thing and I think I could do so much better now, but I'll keep it. Just let your imagination fly, and see what you can come up with!
@FantasyBob - See below!
@ acidwrap - Thanks! And see above for a GS Pep talk! You can do it!
@ Wehrkind - Great ideas for 40k centaurs! But that will be far down the road if ever. Just ideas running through my head.
Also, I got a package of dis-membered female body parts on Saturday!
They look great! Thanks! I'll get to work on many projects now!
@Scarper - Thank you very much! Keep watching this space, I'll have (I hope) many more interesting projects in the comming year! Also, as for the Sculpting medium, I have been using ProCreate, or Gray Stuff, for the last 9 months or so. I personally like it better than Green Stuff, as it has a shorter set-up time. But that means you have less time to work with it too. But texture and adhesion seem to be about the same.
And now, update pics! There isn't a whole lot of big changes since last time I don't think, just a fair amount of little changes.
So, let me know what you think.
Thanks for stopping by!

how badass can one man get? well adding rivets to a plasma gun is a damn well start^^
the plasma gun is now aboslutly convincing...the last vents you added and then the rivets sell the gun to me fully now!
the sabre is now looking stunning too...now that you detailed the handle more it is suitable for a nice slicing and dismembering of anyone oposing that distressing femme^^
and the iron corss is looking totally convincing too... i was a bit shocked as i thouht: why the hell is someone making iron cross bitz to sell... then it dawned upon me^^
also...heading to your other thread now...^^

@ M0rdain - Thanks! I was going for a compact and "sexy" model of plasma pistol. I like it. And the wall? Thanks, I just kind of "went at it" one evening. Not sure I could make a second one that looks like that, but I'l give it another go at some point.
@ El Vic - Well, you GOTTA have rivets somewhere right? And as for the Iron Cross bit. I did actually make it on a piece of styrene first and then transferred it to the model. I should have kept it separate and made the bitz! "doh!
@ FantasyBob - Thanks, unfortunately I am leaving the sword as-is. I like it, mostly becasue the sword really wouldn't fit in the scabbard, going with a bit of 40k realism there.

@ Fantasy Bob - Yes, I am calling the sculpt complete. It is on it's way now to have resin casts made.
@ El Vic - I'll try to make a tut for the medal for the next commissar! It might end up being a slightly different medal, but who knows, I might try to make an exact copy! Or maybe even a couple of different ones!
I am now working on the next Commissar. I will call her Commissar #3. I have cleaned up her legs and torso, and sculpted the soles of her shoes, and tapped them to add a bit of wire to hold her onto the cork while I work on her. No pics yet, I'll wait until I get a bit more done on her, like her boobs and such. I need to fit her head on and see how she will look, but I have been exhausted lately, I got some sort of head cold Monday, and I'm still feeling..."bleh".
Anyway, on this one, I am going to sculpt her hair in a bun. And here is a review of the concept drawing I posted for her a while ago.
I hope I'll be able to get something done on her in the next few days!
Thanks for looking!
Merry Christmas!

It's all good Wehrkind, I wanted to try my hand and sulpting that wall, and leave the rest of the base plain so that it can be based however the client has the rest of his army based.
Actually, I think the way I made the model, you could use just about any base with a wall or even raised terrain of some kind. So it's never too late to put it on a different base. Especially one of the bases you sent with the blanks! I think it will look great on the one with the diamond plate on it. I should take some pics of those, they are really cool. Thanks again!

@ El Vic - Well, for the most part painting will be for the customer. But I may paint up one of the extra copies. Who knows.
Yeah, the medal is pretty tiny. I'll tell you that right now. It took a lot of holding my breath and re-doing it. It's fun though. But definately something to do AFTER the kiddies are in bed.

Well, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, or whatever other holiday you observe.
Mine was great! I didn't get as much time as I had hoped to work on my stuff, but I got some.
For Chistmas I got the Intant Mold I wanted! Yay! So, I got right to work making some press molds of things I have been wanting to make!
Like Chaos Melta Guns! You can never have too many of these things, and I would be in the poor house if I bought all of the ones I want.
So I took some pics of my progress.
Here I have one of the Instant Mold bricks next to the melta gun I want to use.
And the piece inside the mold. (it's hard to see it, but it's there)
I also wanted to make a mold of the faceplate of the Skull Helmet I was working on a while ago.
I am not going to do a step-by-step tutorial on this stuff, it's all over You Tube.
Here are my molds with my Apoxie Sculpt in them. I would not recomend Apoxie Sculpt for this use. Even after letting it sit for 24 hours in the mold, it still had edges scrape off during removal. I will stick with Gray or Green Stuff for this from now on.
And here they are after removal from the molds.
I used a nail to make the rivets on the faceplate of the skull mold. it worked, but I didn't like how it came out. So then I decided to make a full mold of the helmet.
And this is how the Skull helmet turned out.
I like it. Even the rivets are there! They are hard to see, so I will paint them soon I hope and see if they show up better.
I did like how the melta molds worked, so I made a few more. They are obviously not as good as the original, but they will work! I had been converting Bolters with into metas, and they looked horrible, so this is an improvement.
Actually, they just look like they have seen many battles, so it's not that bad.
Also for Chirstmas, I got this book!
Pop Sculpture! It gives a lot of pointers on sculpting, and even how to make action figures with movable parts! Not for 40k scale, but it's still cool!
And I did make a very little bit of progress with my projects. I hope to make more progress after I quit messing around with my Christmas presents!
Centaur Body in the process of being filled out.
And Commissar #3. I have boobs on her, and heels for her shoes. Wehrkind warned me that her ankles would be fragile...so the first thing I did when trying to fit her on the cork was to snap her ankle.
However, I glued it together, and reinforced it with GS, and I will do the same to the other leg for good measure.
Well, that is all for now. I also have a lot going on with my Rhinos, but no pics yet. When I take some I'll update my World Eaters thread.
Thanks for stopping by!

Yeah, she's on the skinny side, but I'll be building her up a bit, and when I add the clothes, she'll fill out even more. That goes for the boobs too. The last model had boobs that were a bit too big, so I am starting smaller this time.

heresy anyone???
as for the sculpting book... sounds like a nice read... could be a revelation and a half... not that you are in need of any...^^
the centaure even now shows the path it is soon to be paving! cool!^^
many of yer pics i cant see... did they got deleted for showing the dark arts or why? the skullhelemt is sadly not revealing many details... but i am sure once basecoated and given a wash we sure see the one and all!...and for my own taste... the choas stuff, the weapons of SM do look way more stylish than any loyal weapons design...
i once had a look on eaby for the instant modl stuff... they now even sell some pellet stuff that works like instant mold but is way cheaper... anyone ever got something worked with that? could that be as good as the real mc coy?
oh and the new commissar is coming along good... well actually it is looking like a mannequin that got treated/rubbed by a customer too many^^

Yeah, miss Dee, are you talking to me or to Dave?
El Vic - Come on! You know the last model's boobs were ...um...oversized...right? Well, I thought they were. And I figured after adding the corset, and the coat, they just started to look rediculous. Well, the pics below will show you how the smaller ones are coming along. I might have to redo them...the right boob is a bit...wonky...I think. The book is pretty sweet! Everything they are sculpting in the book are models that are around 8 inches tall or so, but I think I can apply most of the skills to this scale. Sorry if you can't see all the pics...I have heard that if you delete your internet cookies and browing history, if might work better. I'm not sure...my browsing history seems to get dumped at least once a day...weird huh? Interesting info on the mold pellets, I might have to look into that as well. As for the abused manequin, see the new pics.
Leet ninja - Yes, the Instant Mold is awesome!
