Thinking about selling one of my armies I cant really afford to keep up with two (with all the supplements and codex/rules released at the price they are)nor do I have time to play two. So wanted to get opinions on which you would keep because I cant decide.

Only Played each about 5 or 6 time and have about 2000 points in both, i'm Leaning towards reg marines because they seem to they get more love/options/updates . But I also like being the elite army of psykers too.

Thanks for the opinions !

I'd keep GK. It's nice seeing something a little different.

I'd keep the Grey Knights too, they are pretty unique when compared to regular marines.

Everybody plays Marines.
OFC you have more options and can try a lot more different things - if you have the models.

So if you dotn want to spend a fortune and want a fun army to play stick with GK.

As a Grey Knights player through-and-through. I'd say if you want to stick with a single army... go with the Space Marines.

Every time I see a combat knife strapped to the leg of a marine or a little satchel pack on their rear I get a little jealous at the customization options of their kits. They're just a lot more conducive to making more interesting models (without buying extra kits/bits and/or making modifications with green stuff, etc).

Beyond that, they've got UNITS. Scouts, tacticals, terminators, bikers, centurions, predators and whirlwinds and vindicators! Oh my!
Grey Knights have... Power armor. Terminator armor. Dreadknights. Dreadnoughts. Paladins are Terminators with fancy banners on their back, interceptors have fancy backpacks for their power armor, and Purifiers have white helmets. It's pretty boring to have so few silhouettes in your army and I think the only one worse off is Sisters of Battle at this point.

They also get updated more often and generally have better rules when they do.

I didn't expect it to be majority GK for a lot of things the poster above me pointed out. Maybe everyone's just sick of seeing standard marines?thanks for the opinions!

honestly, I'd keep the vanilla Marines, Grey Knights these days just seem so... mono build.

on the other hand, you can proably get more money for the vanilla marines as 2000 points of each means more minis from the Standard marine side of things.

my advice though, keep both. Grey Knights haven't as far as I know gotten much in the way of supplemental material anyway, and IU got a hunch that's not likely to change, so I'd keep both and run some grey knight allies with a vanilla marine core, 1 Librarian, GKT squad and dreadknight would make a pretty solid addition to a space marine army

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Codex Space Marines will always see new units, get the fastest updates, and have the largest variety of units to choose from. With the SM psyker formations and their access to a shedload of psychic disciplines, there's nothing the GKs do that the SMs can't do, and there are dozens of things that SMs can do that GKs will never be able to do. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

I'd say the biggest factor is what you want to collect and play more.

Looking at the poll, GK have this in the bag, but of you'd get more enjoyment from regular marines, stick with themy.

As a former die hard GK player, I say go SM. GKs are really cool, but their newest codex has stripped them of a lot of options and didn't give them much in return. SM on the other hand have tons of kits, options, will always get codex updates and new models every editon. Another plus side to SM is if you don't want to use them with the vanilla codex you can get away with using them as blood angels, dark angels, and maybe even space wolves.

Don't go GK. Want to talk about a boring army to play - talk about grey knights. Probably the worst army in the game.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Codex Marines are boring. Stay with GK. They are quite different to play when compared with other armies.

Marines have a ton of different mediocre builds. That's the opposite of boring.
