I'm considering to scratch build ( or buy) myself 3x assault cannons for my razorbacks and I was wondering if its worth it?

On a side note I'd love the extra DAKKA

If you are pushing forward aggressively they can work.

If you are kit bashing, you might want to consider las/plas

Assault cannons are about the easiest thing to kitbash together. You literally just clip the barrels off the Heavy Bolters and glue the barrels from the Assault Cannons in their place.

you can buy the twin linked assault cannon for about 15 bucks from a variety of sources. I was lucky enough to have the peices to convert from my collection of landspeeder typhoons. Also another great source of assault cannons is raven wing land speeder upgrade packs - they come with 2 assault cannons. Once you have the assault cannons the conversion is easy. Just replace the heavy bolter barrles with assault cannon barrels - looks great. As far as their usefullness - they are very hit or miss. The las plas seem to perform better on average but certain targets perfer the assault cannon. In ky gladius i run 5 assault cannons and 7 las plas. I think that is a good ratio.

You could also just use the little forward turret for the land raider crusader in its entirety (it comes with them and they fit the standard turret ring on a razorback).

If you decide to convert, use existing gun bodies/breeches of any type with the barrels clipped as suggested above. Buy some cheap polystyrene rod from Evergreen and glue bundles of it to the ends of your guns. The Dark Angels sprue does have awesome ones, but make sure you can make use of or trade some of the other bits... they aren't cheap. I've been pretty happy with resin bits from bitspudlo.com, and they make a twin assault cannon upgrade.

I'm in the same boat, six of my Razorbacks need the AC turret, though I do plan to use my LR cupola ones for now. Forgeworld makes some awesome TL AC turrets that you can buy...but the price is not cheap.

I have seen where people cut the barrel of a Lascannon off and glue two Plasmaguns in its place. Quick and easy.

I use a single turret of the TL lascannon and then convert the copula gun to a twin linked plasma. I also have three old metal ones.

I love my assault cannon Razorbacks. The twin-linked assault cannon can threaten everything in the game, from cheap infantry to monstrous creatures to tanks to flyers. Put it on the flank and have it hug cover while it harasses the enemy.

I bought spare Land Raider Crusader turrets from a bitz store on Ebay. Not too expensive and the exact same mount as the standard Razorback turret so it slides right in.

Yup there are plenty of bits sellers on eBay that will sell you the crusader parts, I've generally found they aren't much cheaper than buying the forgeworld turret though.

If you search las plas razorback conversion on google images you will see a variety of methods. The hardest thing to do will be finding plasma guns that are right for the job. I personally used plasma talons from blackknight bikers. Then converted the blackknights into a bike command squad with mounted bolters.

Baal Predators are exactly an assault cannon Razorback if you don't put the sponsons on.
