On Friday night, I had a truly fantastic 2 on 2 game. I apologize in advance for the shoddiness of this report due to anything I may be failing to remember.
Rosters:
Crimson Fists:
Gladius Strike Force:
Demi-Company:
Captain with power fist
3 5 - man
tac squads; lascannon, missile launcher and plasma cannon respectively
1 5 - man devastator squad - 3 missile launchers with flakk and a lascannon
1 5 - man assault marine squad in a rhino; sarge with meltabombs; 2 flamers
1st Comapny Task Force:
4 - 5 man sternguard veterans squads, each in a rhino.
Tau (who proposed a 1250 list because he didn't want to fill out his list with "weak, scrub stuff"

):
Stormsurge (

)
A couple units of what I assume where fire warriors or equivalent; he had something to produce marker lights in each of them (I forget what they were exactly)
3 crisis suits
Marker light drones with an
HQ Tyrranids:
A dakka flyrant
A carnifex
A squad of warriors
A swarmlord
A venomthrope
He also had some
MC that shot S4 blasts across the table.
A 10 man squad of genestealers.
I forget what else he was running. He was basically playing nidzilla with a list that he apparently specifically tailored to play against me 1 v 1 (

).
Khorne Daemonkin:
Belakor
Bloodthirster
Some other flying daemon
MC with an instant death sword or axe (I forget which)
Forgefiend
Defiler
He ran a couple of other things in his roughly 7 model unbound list (

), but I don't remember what they were.
Terrain setup:
6 X 4 table; terrain placed in the fashion of a 9 square grid. As I recall, there were 2 forests, 6 ruins and an
AV 13 building/tower in the middle of the map.
6 objectives, one of which was in said building.
We play on the long table edges. Tyrranids and Crimson Fists face off; Khorne Daemonkin and Tau face off.
We end up going first.
Turn 1, us: I inform my ally to ignore the bugs and to ignore the big giant shooty thing and to focus fire on the marker lights...and to get the big giant shooty thing into close combat as soon as possible, of course.
Khorne Daemonkin player advances his
CC models to move closer to the storm surge. His shooting bombards the smaller squads with marker lights.
I fire a frag missile at one of the smaller units with marker lights. Most of my rhinos make a bee line in the general direction of the building in the middle of the map and the side of the tau player. One of my rhinos (Captain and assault squad) gets stuck in the treeline surrounding the center building. The rhino never ends up repairing itself. The entire game, Captain Hernandez sat in that rhino complaining about the general incompetence of the rhino crew.
The exception is a single rhino which moves to the far left of the map to cut off the big scary bugs from moving towards my guys.
The rest of my stuff fires at bugs.
Turn 1, them:
Genestealer cult approaches my guys. Flyrant shoots stuff to no avail. Blast bug fires blast...again, to no real avail.
Really, not much happened on that side. On the other side of the map, tau focuses on Khorne Daemonkin and leaves me alone.
Turn 2, us:
1 sternguard in rhino pulls up right next to the markerlight drones and
HQ. "
HI GUYS! HOW ARE YOU?"
2 rhinos move by center building to wall off/cut off: 1. bug movement towards my gunline and 2. bug access to building. Sternguard pop out to fire bug-spray laced bolter rounds into the group of warriors that had approached the middle of the table.
I obliterated most of the genestealer cult with sternguard rounds (I forget which ones).
I shot more stuff. I don't remember the details. Those were the main points of note.
On the other side: more bombardments with defiler and forgefiend. Big scary daemons murdered the stormsurge. Enough unsaved instant death wounds rolled enough d3 results to kill the stormsurge.
Turn 2, them:
Carnifex kills the rhino on the far left that I used to wall off bug access. Warriors unsuccessfully try to claw through one of the center rhinos.
Lol. More inconsequential shooting. Not much else happens.
Turn 3, us: Sternguard pop out of rhino by marker drones and fire kraken rounds to deny the drones their 4+ saves. The
HQ is behind the markerlight drones. All that survives the round of shooting is a drone and the
HQ. Another squad of sternguard embarks into the building and fires on crisis suits (
IIRC). More shooting kills the Carnifex. I slightly adjust the mid-map rhino wall to ensure that bug movement is sufficiently restricted.
I inform the Khorne Daemonkin that the Tau player is essentially out of the game at this point. "TIME
TO KILL THE BIG BUGS!

"
The next two turns went about as you would expect. By the end of the game, they were practically tabled, we controlled 3-4 of the objectives (my marines and sternguard were standing on 3 of them; a unit of summoned bloodletters were standing on the fourth). We had at least a dozen victory points.
And the Tyrranids player never did rip through that rhino,
IIRC. Those warriors just couldn't roll those 6s.
It was a deeply satisfying game for me.
