Hey guys !
Recently I have managed to grab some Mechanicus (40k, mix of Cult and Skitarii) models which are on the way.

While I love the idea of them and have plans to do them up in my own custom scheme , the fact that I am a massive Chaos fan at heart seems to be creeping its way into this army (As it does in all aspects of my hobby!) . As a result, I am throwing the crazy idea around of making them up as Dark mechanicus. Mostly achieved through painting with only minor conversions required.

However, I cant seem to find that much material online of other peoples projects, so I thought i'd throw it up here !

Where do you stand ? Have you done it (For the love of all that is unholy throw up some pics !) ? 40k Mechanicus or 30k Mechanicum? Do you just like the idea ? Are you waiting for the possibility of rules to come out specifically for them sometime down the track first ? Or are you just not interested at all ?

No, but I like the idea.

I play Mechanicum in 40k/30k and(for now at least) they are loyalists(kind of....Ordo Reductor.... ).
As I scratchbuild and convert a lot, the army looks a little weird and crazy.

I have a 40k-AdMech-army too, but that thing is sleeping, till the new IA-book.

If you haven't yet read through GuitaRasmus's dark mechanicus thread on Bolder and Chainsword, your mind will be blown. It has some amazing ideas but be warned, you may feel completely inadequate for the rest of your life.

I started doing some dark mechanicus stuff as part of my Khorne warband. I mixed skitarii, cultist and cadian parts and made a nice warpmsith too. I might do a whole detachment of them at some point, because they worked out well!

Very nice man. I myself love converting up and modifying things to my desires, recently building a Lord of Change out of spare bitz !

I like your "Generic Archmagos" build. Its relatively simplistic but fits together really well. Also a new use for the Dark Angels vet bodies I havent seen before . Well done.

I read your warning...but I didnt UNDERSTAND your warning... I must now go sell all my models and take up knitting @__@ !! I also checked out that guys link to his Death Guard army while I was there... being a Death Guard man myself and holy hell..

I like the idea of mixing Cultists with Skitarii that actually comes out pretty badass...Love the end result pics of them all painted up. It definitely does make the concept of doing Dark mechanicum a little less daunting seeing it workout like that. I never doubted my abilities to chaosify the Tanks/Servitors but the infantry troops I was considering just painting up to look sadistic .

There's a guy in my area that is making a Skaven 40k force using the Mechanicum rules set. All the radiation based weapons really make a lot of sense in it and they look really good!

Thats pretty inventive i'd never have considered that. Plague monk models would look amazing with their robes painted up , and you are correct the Warp lightning gear and bits work very well to represent radioactively unstable compounds

I started a Skitarii force using Skaven and the arms fit nicely onto the various Skaven models. The plague monks need a little bit of filler on the arms, but the effect is quite satisfactory. I did get sidetracked with my Carcharodon army recently, but will be returning to the Skaven shortly to finish their paintjobs.

Conversion options are limitless and there are several kits I am looking at to create armored tanks and biorganic robots to fight alongside them.

Really nice, I am working on exactly the same army right now, in fact I came here too try to find a good starter list, to give me something to work towards, otherwise my creativity is going to run rampant! I have a skaven force for epic 40k, which I decided to upscale to 40k size, and the minis really match up perfectly. Looking forward to seeing what else you do.

Those look awesome ! I love the stormvermin. The arm proportions seem perfect for them. Very cool indeed

I am making a newly fallen forgeworld myself so the fluff would explain them having all of the new toys and not being super corrupted yet (I do lots of chaos star free hand and chaos bits etc but not a lot of mutations). You can see a lot of the pictures in my gallery or plog

Very nice stuff. Interestingly enough I had chosen a Teal / Turquoise colour for my own Admech colour scheme I just hadnt decided if it would be Chaos or Loyalist !

i've got a Start Collecting Skitari box sitting here untouched because I haven't had the time to get into it. A Dark Mechanicum detachment for my theoretical Night Lords might be a good idea.

I played a 2000 pt game against my buddy's iron hands and did well.
My army was the daemon engine pack formation from black legion, the soul grinder formation from daemon codex and a CSM cad led by a Warpsmith with min cultists and more daemon engines.
Was a good game and the dark mechanicus won in the end.

I just got stuck into my Start Collecting Skitarii box last night ! Only the Onager left to build. That would look awesome. I have a major soft spot for Night Lords. I considered doing mine up to ally with my Death Guard but after 6000 points of Rot, 2500ish painted, you really need a change of scenery
