I'm planning on getting some Kill Teams for my local game association for people to try out miniature gaming and 40K in a small but still fun scale, but I need help with building the Kill Teams as I don't know that much of all the races. I'm aiming for Teams that are optimal but also represents their faction/race in some way and are as balanced as possible against each other.

In short, the rules are the following for Kill Team:
200 points chosen from:
0-1 Elites 0-2 Troops 0-1 Fast Attack
• No HQ, Heavy Support, Flyers, Allies
• No 2+ saves, no models with more than 3 Wounds
• No vehicles with more than 33 total Armour Value points
• No units may Deep Strike
• You MUST pick a character OR your highest Ld unit to be a Leader
• You MUST pick 3 non-vehicle Specialists, who each get assigned a Special Rule
• Each model operates individually as its own unit, not as a squad
• If reduced to half its models, a Kill Team starts taking Ld-based Break Tests

I want to bring 4 Kill Teams and Sternguards Vets takes one place as being 'Deathwatch' (as they are the known Kill Team), and then for the xenos I let people vote for what they wished to see (top 5):
1. Orks
2. Tyranids
3. Chaos and Daemons
4. Tau Empire
5. Eldar

3 of them I need to complete my set of 4 Teams and I wish it to be Orks, Tyranids and Tau as they will bring a lot of random stuff

What do you think will fit in these kill teams? And what Chapter Tactics should the Sternguards use? These are the lists I came up with so far:

• 9 Sternguard Vets (198pts)
• 10 Ork Boyz with 'eavy armour & 5 Warbikers (190pts)

Chaos and Daemons probably wants to be taken from Khorne Daemonkin, allowing you to field some power armour and bloodletters.

Orks should really be spamming bodies. maybe lose the warbikers in favour of 5 support lootas and as many boyz as will fit in what's left. to increase body count, consider gretchin.

Nids should be genestealer based to get around the synapse issues conferred by kill team, lead by a broodlord?? not a nids player but new genestealer cult minis might work out for you?

Tau want fire warriors, with 2 individual crisis suits, missile pods and plasma.

For balanced elder, maybe guardians and one of the aspects, howling banshees would be good given the other teams, not overpowered, but good. failing that drop guardians and go with Dire Avengers.

-I feel like marines have a lot of bodies here, which will surely maximise the efficiency of the special ammunition. Chapter Tactics should either be Iron Hands for feel no pain, or Ultramarines to maximise the efficiency of fire. remember, Imperial Fists bolter drill does not work with special ammunition.

all I got for ya for now...

Thanks for your suggestions! Will into them further But some thoughts I have is for one the Orks, won't that like be a lot of bodies, maybe too many bodies? That could lose to touch of feeling like a Kill Team.

I really like the Genestealer and their Broodlord and want them to work, but how they work now is that they will probably be vulnerable with bad armor save and only CC.

Ye some warriors and suits sounds sweet, the suits will probably draw some attention.

Don't know that much about the eldar but will look into those units

You think it's too many marine bodies? Iron Hands and Ultramarines, check!
