Welcome to Dakka and the Space Marines!

Looks not bad.

For the assault squad, you probably want the second flamer. The only reason to put the Evis on the sarge is if you make him a vet for the extra attack. It’s probably safer acting as a hidden fist on a random marine that can’t be called out. Of course, then you can’t LOS if he does get a wound on him. There are trade offs. Of course, giving it to the sarge makes it master crafted, so there is that.

The free MC rule on sarges from your CT is one you are not taking very much advantage of, IMHO.

Bare-bones chaplain is a good fit here.

4 grav cannons is a lot of points on a fragile few bodies. I get that the formation wants to do the mobile shooting thing, but these guys are going to be a priority target. I might suggest dropping two of them, so you can shoot the two out of the top of a rhino. Points could also be used to spread a few upgrades around.

I might mix up the tac squads a little. Adding some melta would give you some more AV, which I think you are a little light on. Combis on the sarges to match the special would also not be a bad idea. Although IIRC MC’ing flamers doesn’t work, but I could be wrong.

Vets look pretty good. I’m not a huge fan of 5 man sternguard squads, but they can work. A pair of HFs, particularly with the formation bonus, will be nasty. Don’t take the MM. You are going to be in normal melta range anyway, so why snap shot? With that much MC’d melta, I might just take a HF instead. 3-4 melta shots should be all you need to crack a tank.

You might want to take capheractii terminators instead of normal ones. S&P won’t be much of an issue if you are in a transport, and the ability to mix in some lightning claws and the 4++ will make up for the loss of a few stormbolter shots. You should also take the LRR as a dedicated transport as part of the 1st co TF. That way it counts as one of the 3 units to trigger the formation’s special rules. Does “flmebringers” give it anything? I’m not 100% up to speed on all the AoD stuff.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll chat on the specifics of the unit advice when I get to a keyboard... phone autocorrect on shorthand is killing me.

As for the reasons for the flamebringer formation

- warlord has 2 personal traits
- flamers on salamander models get plus 1 str
- stationary units in movement phase gain fearless

Base salamander chap tacs allow re-rolling on flamer wounds. So flamers on sarges not needed

How about a skyhammer assault force 2 assault units that deep strike and can assault and 2 drop podding devastators with relentless master crafted multi meltas. Maybe with locator beacons to be followed by some terminators

I'm off to read the rules, but I dont think that formation fits within the flameblade formation.

I may have to sleep before I reply... just looked at the clock!

No it doesn't but you can add one to a demi company with 10th company support 5 scouts in a landspeeder storm will support it quite nicely

BTW doesn;t a stormlance require everything to be in a rhino or raorback

Ahhh.. I see. The reason I went with the stormlance, was that it was the quickest route to me using a flameblade force within what models I own. I feel it also allows me to get into flamer range quicker.

As regards the point regarding rhino's and razor's... this applies to all units not on a bike or with a jump pack.

The big question is... does the +1 str apply to the redeemers flamer. I assume not as it would be quite OP.

I forgot to mention... I put Nocturn's fury on the chaplain.. triple flamer tastic fun!

In regards to your question about the Land Raider Redeemer, your instincts are right. The Redeemer does not benefit from the scorched earth special rule. I know the AoD supplement says "all Salamander models in this detachment..." but don't beleive what others say. The SM codex clearly explains what an Ultramarine or Salamanders model is and it is a model that is part of a SM force with specific Chapter Tactics and only models with Chapter Tactics special rules benefit from them.

The only vehicles that benefit from Chapter Tactics are Dreadnoughts. Also, all the vehicles in an Iran Hands SM force that benefit from the It Will Not Die Chapter Tactics special rule.

This list looks good but I recommend that you specialize your Tacs and keep all weapons the same. So, one squad will have a flamer and the Sgt. can have a combi-flmaer of a MC melta
bomb.

I hope this helps and good luck burning and cleansing heretics and all other enemies of the Imperium.
