Hi all,

I've been painting up a Helldrake but I was trying something a bit different. I wanted to do a Nurgle-esque feel, but two things, firstly I wanted to do something to represent turning towards Nurgle, its not a full-on plague-riddled filth machine, its more like it still looks relatively normal but there are signs of infection and decay coming through....secondly, I don't actually like the over the top Nurgleness with lots of green colours and guts hanging out.

Therefore I went with a more brown colour scheme - The main colour is a base of Zandri Dust then layered over with Balor Brown. The edging is Sycorax Bronze. The Grey bits are Administratum Grey and the metal is just basic Leadbelcher I did some damage effects on the model, cutting off some spikes and making holes...putting on some patches of rot etc

I'm not entirely sure what to do next...I was just going to hit the main colours with a wash of Agrax Earthshade...does that sound like a plan? Anyone got any other suggestions? Or just thoughts on the paint scheme in general?

Not really sure about the infection stuff either...at the moment I've just based it in Khorne Red and was going to drybrush it with something like Rakarth Flesh. I cant decide whether to go back and make it more pinky and wash it with something like Carroburg Crimson (to make it more like fleshy growths) or to perhaps go against my original decision and make it green. Perhaps something completely different?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts...

Just to say that the headshot didn't focus too well and I actually did sculpt an enlarged eye in a big socket....

How about some bruising and veins leading to the infection sites?

yup, I think I have to agree with Buttery here, some kind of "seeping corruption" around the fleshy bits would help pull the whole thing together

...at the moment I think there's a bit too sharp a contrast between the main paintjob and the fleshy bits...I think the agrax would help a fair bit in general, it usually does ...and maybe something like a fairly heavy drybrush of something like bugmans glow first, followed by the light drybrush of zandri dust or rakarth flesh, on the fleshy bits would probably be good too

though really, there's a whole rainbow of colour to choose from when depicting nurgleyness...just google image search "mold" or something sometime...there's not just green!...there's yellow, blue, purple, pink, red, orange, black, grey, white...all sorts of colours!
