Could this possibly mean that they got something going for them?

Talking in a sense that if i remember correctly space wolves got a bunch of new shinnies soon after they got their starter box or did I goof and it doesn't mean anything?

Oh well. We can always hope.

A lot of other factions got their Start Collecting! at the same time as Wolves and didn't get squat after. I think that was more a coincidence.

CSM one is garbage though. Terminator Lord is in every damn set they do for Chaos and no one wants a fething Hellbrute. Ugh.

Krieg! What a hole...

Uh, the Scion one basically gives you the Taurox Prime and about a quarter of the Commissar for free, plus the formation bonus sheet, not too shabby.

Well imo the star collecting are fine, especially for the Scions, i just don' t really like the chaos lord, the start collecting csm would be awesome if there was Kranon instead of the lord, a unique model just like the sm and tau collecting box... still don't know in what the formation consist tho

To be fair, the Helbrute kit is excellent. If I wasn't hard for Contemptors, I'd use the Helbrute bitz for my Loyalist Dreads.

Fair enough. I've had 2 of the DV ones which I like ok, but are nothing special. I imagine it's similar to the SM Dreadnought kit; I recently bought a Venerable Dread kit and was suitably impressed by how awesome it is.

No details but the leaked WD images mentioned the MT formation did something to replace casualties while the CSM formation gives something the special rule "Avatar of Spite". Probably won't know the proper rules until somebody gets their hands on an actual box.

The Scion one is perfect and if someone buys them outside of that box they likely have too many Commisars already. It's exactly what you need to run a squad of Scions in an existing army.

The Chaos one is absolute garbage. Yeah the Terminator Lord is a cool kit, but it was a cool kit when it came out who knows how long ago and Terminators are still just as trash. Helbrutes are still just as trash. CSM squads are still just as trash. They'll make holiday and gift sales but I think it's a trap for the target audience. Maybe it will be similar to Necron. Squad respawns on HQ. Either way, sounds like it could be a fun one.

The scion one seems odd for sure. And if the CSM one's name is to believed it probably has something to do with Hatred or Zealot when you're near the lord/brute.

Oooh, faction starter boxes?

Let's go make sure...

And yup, just as I thought, none for the Sisters of Battle. Well, at least some things never change...

To be fair, as long as the Sisters' current range is Finecast/Metal you cannot expect a starter box for them. Why you would even expect such a thing is beyond me.

Get salty about it all you like...that pretty much is the definition of an unrealistic expectation. It's like getting sad that your bowl of Cheerios isn't actually a bowl 4-star French cuisine.

Just metal, actually. We don't have any Finecast stuff.

But I don't want to take this where it would naturally go next, so I'll just drop it.

But, I mean, two squads of 10 Battle Sisters, a squad of 5 Seraphim, a Canoness and a plastic Immolator kit wouldn't be THAT heavy, would it?

Edit: Just figured out what the thread's actually talking about.

A squad of ten Sisters with a Superior, two special weapons and Simulacrum plus a Priest and an Immolator wouldn't be terrible, especially if there was a discount over buying it all separately...

I thinkthe Millitarum Tempestus is a weird starter set... Just like Skitarii one it comes with an IC that isn't in the particular book. As far as I remember there isn't a commissar in the Scions book so how is this suppose to help you start them?

I think the most important thing to come out of GW doing a CSM starting set is that when they were putting it together it would have been impossible to ignore how antiquated the model line is and how few HQ choices are represented... They have to do something sooner rather than later.

The price is probably one of the reasons why SoB do not have one. If ever.

Warpsmith, Forge/Maulerfiend and cultists would had been lot of better, but still I wait what rules CSM box will have. We have Terminator Lords Cadre where we could get Terminator lord too. Good thing is that it could build to Sorcerer in terminator armor too.

If anyone finds out the formation rules for these boxes please share! Would love to see CSM get a viable hellbrute formation making the pack worth buying

The Commissar is a valid HQ option for MT in their codex. In a pure MT army he would probably be the warlord and you could stick him out of LoS running a comms relay or something.

The Chaos datasheet will probably give them all fear or something. Most excellent rules for defeating the lap dogs of the Imperium!

Thought for the day: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
30k Ultramarines: 2000 pts
Bolt Action Germans: ~1200 pts
AOS Stormcast: Just starting.

Both of them were released as part of limited edition boxes before. The SM TDA captain was exclusive to the Strike Force Ultra box IIRC, so has a quite high buy in if you wanted to get him. These days you can pick him up either in the start collecting box, or in a little bundle deal with a terminator squad. But he used to be “rare”

The Tau was in a battleforce sized box, who’s details escape me (as I don’t play them).

The worst part is that Strike Force Ultra was a terrible deal to start with and extremely limited run.

Of course. Who wouldn't want more helbrutes and terminator lords/sorcs.
