So, recently, due to tightening our budget, we ditched our satellite provider. One small (major) problem: that cuts out a huge amount of sports availability for me.

We have Amazon Prime, so getting TV shows isn't really an issue, it's literally just sports.

I'm specifically looking for some sort of legal program, subscription based or free, that works on the Playstation, and carries Rugby matches.

Anyone got something that works for them and is worth checking out?

I don't know about legal, but it's pretty easy to find illegal streams of sports.

For my family, they dont know about Netflix or anything such as the like. So they have tv, and out At&T provider gives us 4 cable boxs.
So I will watch TV occasionally.

isnt there an espn app or something? Surely there must be some sort of sports app. I remember the Xbox 360 home screen wouldnt shut up about it and I cant even delete the stupid thing from my android phone, so surely PS3 must have something similar

There are various sports apps, but they aren't necessarily very useful. For example, the NFL app won't let you watch games until the next day, so it's pretty much useless and you have to settle for illegal streams if you want to watch a game that isn't available in your area.

I have never heard of any kind of app or service that supports sports specifically.

Basically...without a satellite or cable package that has espn...I don't think you can get it.

I partly take that back....

Sling TV sapparently allows espn streaming

But its an additional $20/month...and another device...

I saw one last night that allowed you to stream Sky Sports on the Playstation, but looking at the user comments and "help" section.... they really aren't the greatest service out there

And yeah, for some fething reason, ESPN's app doesn't appear on the playstation network.

I really dislike using youtube, because quality does tend to be so hit or miss, but it looks like that may be my best option

get the amazon fire TV. you can get the ESPN app. However most of those apps require you to sign in with your cable provider username and password, so as not to bypass having cable TV.

Alternate method. KODI. Side load it on the fire TV and you can get live streams.

Head down to the local and meet up with friends for some hot wings and the game on the big screen.

That's how I do it.

Best to just give up on easy access to sports - save 100 bucks a month. Go to friends house if you really need to catch a game.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Lol, this here is America... and I'd be in literal heaven if I found a bar/pub close enough to me that also played rugby matches

Probably end up like Xenomancers though and give up on the bulk of my sports. If I find a good feed on youtube, I can watch matches late or whatever.
