Hi guys,
I thought I should start a new blog for this, since it's so different to my 40k Tyranid Hunters blog.
I've never had an army for AoS, but this Summer Campaign has caught my attention, so I've decided to try something totally new. I'll be building a force of Daemons of Nurgle and Nurgle Rotbringers, starting with the Daemons. I've stuck to the kits for now, no conversion work just yet (with the exception of an additional Nurgling on the Herald).

Everything I've built so far.

Herald of Nurgle

Piper, Plagueridden and Icon Bearer

Plaguebearers

Plaguebearers

I'll be trying to keep this updated as much as I can, so keep an eye out tomorrow!

Just be sure to sanitize your painting/hobby supplies before getting back to work on your other armies.

Thanks for the kind words and sanitary advice guys!
Nothing much today, but I've promised myself to get these finished soon.

Nurglings.

2/3 plague drones built, with one rider assembled. I'll be glueing the riders on after painting.

Icon bearer

This guy is balancing on things, as I have tried to glue it to a bade, but it wouldn't stay straight, then I dropped it and parts actually snapped, so he's very delicate right now!

Should have all assemblies done by tomorrow, and then it's time to paint.

Looking forward seeing some paint on them

Thank you all for bearing with me so far, I appreciate the grey gets boring when there's no conversion work. So, here's some paint!

The first lot of Nurglings. I realised some yellow would be cool after the first base load, which was a bit dumb.

Two tone priming, to break up the end result.

The green and yellow ones. I like these colours best, I think, but I'll see how I feel once they're all done. These are unwashed right now, which is a great pun, as this is Nurgle.

The brown and grey, which I am experimenting bruises with. Or I will be anyway.

Herald, with his little buddies. I like how he's coming along, even with just one wash.

Hoping to get more done tomorrow.

Looking good so far. Many gifts from Nurgle you have.

Thank you very much, glad you like them.

Started the bruising and Nurgle's rot, I think it's starting to shape up.

The Herald is ready to have his insides painted.

All C&C welcome and appreciated

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I got another painting session in today, which was nice. This one was actually a decent one, unlike the earlier dabble whilst the kids had a nap.

Two bases of Nurglings after an Agrax Earthshade wash.

Plaguebearers after the same.

Biel-Tan Green was the next wash. Still wet on the centre and right.

And again, Plaguebearers got the same. The piper had some extra work, as shown above, before this wash, but it's all just experimentation at this stage.

Nurgle's Rot was still wet here, so looks quite thick, but I will thicken certain areas, especially his hollow stomach.

See above for notes on Nurgle's Rot, but I'm incredibly happy with the boils and rash on his back.

The Herald is really taking shape, not long until he's done I think.

I never knew how fun Nurgle units were to paint, why did nobody ever tell me?

Nurgle's rot gives a lovely effect. Also started the base (remember that for the next one, started), I'm going to be doing swamp bases, which is something new for me, since I usually do snow.

The shrunken head and some rust effects are all he needs doing now. Except basing. As you can see, I have literally just started, as evidenced by the lone twig fragment.

Middle man has no heads on his boils , I only noticed as I took the picture, so he'll get them this weekend.

I think I'll have to do some more washes and glazes on the brown ones, because the rash looks too bright.

The yellow ones are my favourite so far, after the Herald.

My dad asked what I was working on at the moment, so I sent hhim this. His reply was that "the centre one reminds me of you as a teenager, you've got the acne down." Good old British dad style backhanded compliment.

Funny thing about the above, I actually did use photos of myself as a teenager, when I had severe acne, before it was being treated, as one of my references for the boils on the Plaguebearers.

As always, any and all C&C is welcome and appreciated.

Urgh, looks disgusting.

Which of course is the idea! The wounds and boils look really convincing.

Glad you like them!

Sorry for the radio silence, but a certain mobile game has come out, and has taken me outside too much.

Nurglings, boils done, and glaze applied. Just the bone/horns and guts to paint on them.

Work started on insides, guts, bones and horns. All glazed, almost done now!

Now, I was wondering what people's opinions were on adding more Plaguebearers I'm different units. I'm torn between keeping them all multi coloured, and differentiating between units by weapon colour (rusty, slime ridden, made of bone etc.) Or by splitting them up into colours. I'm leaning more towards weapons, but I'd like opinions please.

Separating them by the model’s color would be easier to distinguish on the table. But I agree that the multi-colored units would look cool.

Do you have enough that you could go both ways? Paint an equal number of each weapon, dispersed among the different shades, so you can group them by either? Just as long as you have multiples of 7 in each style you should be fine.

You are working in sevens I hope?

So far all I have is the the Start Collecting box, but I'm already planning to work in multiples of 7, my biggest unit being 21 large for example.

Sorry for the radio silence everyone, been a it busy.

Got the Herald''s base pretty much finished, which was is a relief.

I also started to build my Lord of Plagues, because it's such a cool model.

Right, no painting done (that I photographed, more on that tomorrow), but here's more Nurglings and the assembled Lord of Plagues:

Hey, nice stuff. Just found this blog and I've been looking for Nurgle tips. What paints did you use for the boils? They look quite effective. Cheers in advance.

Thanks guys!
For the boils I used Wazdaka red over a large area around the boils, then Mephiston red on the boils themselves, not being overly careful to only paint the raised areas, then Yriel yellow for the heads.

Thanks. I'll be sure to give it a try when I get some Plaguebearers.

Sorry for the no updates, I've been distracted by many things. Here's one distraction, Sigmar is smiling back upon the Realm of Life.

I'll always be a Space Marine player at heart, so it was only a matter of time before I picked up some Stormcasts. I'm painting them up as Hallowed Knights, but the only parts with paint on so far are the Gryph-hound and the Stardrake. Drake is just base colours, and the hound is awaiting some more detail. I'll post the rest of the Stormhost tomorrow, there's a far bit...
