I'm a little surprised that this KS for a 5' x 3' inset gaming table didn't capture anybody's interest:

The $499 base price is very reasonable if one were looking to buy a gaming table for smaller skirmish wargaming (e.g. Malifaux, Infinity) or board gaming (e.g. Zombicide, Settlers). And it looks like the company is reasonably well-established and will be able to deliver.

Of course, that presumes that your spouse can be reasonable about spending $499 +$59 S&H on a gaming table. I'm still trying to convince mine to get the basic table with a couple wing shelves for the gaming room...

Well, to be fair, a lot of people here would be more interested in a 6x4. 5x3 might be good for boardgames, but you can use a 6x4 or larger for boardgames as well (I do here) but you'd need to get an overlay board to use this for 6x4 gaming, so it's no different to having a trestle table, etc in that sense.

Oh, I get that 4x6' is the standard for large TTWGs like 40k and FoW and such; however, there's also a lot of skirmish here, and a lot of bleed to general boardgaming.

If you're not playing BIG games of 40k or Flames, this is more than adequate. I would have no issues playing a 500-1000 pt battle on a 3x5' board. Same if I were playing GW's Gorkamorka, Mordheim, Necromunda, Shulk, WHQ:ST, BaC, etc.

Personally, I'd want a bar-height 4x6' inset with a 5+" edge on the sides, and a couple of 6" wings for the sides. But that would be a dedicated wargaming table, not a general boardgaming table for the kitchen / study / family room. And if I were to have one commissioned, it'd be vastly more expensive than what this KS asks.
