I liked the look of the StormTalon (at least I liked its potential as a good model). I have marine armies, but unfortunately I play Dark Angels, Space Wolves, and Grey Knights. (I played them all before they were flavor of the month). None of those guys has access to a StormTalon.

So, what to do with it. I could just paint it up and use it as a display model. I could say it counts as another flier. I could just use it using allies rules or unbound. Not quite sure which is best. Maybe, just maybe, it might be added to a new codex the next time one is updated.

They do fit into a number of formations, but you'd need to pick up a few more things to add.

Or just an ally detachment.

Talons are fun little birds and do well on the table. Worth flying.

Maybe paint it up as Deathwatch and add a squad of Deathwatch Marines as allies to bus about in it and add them to any of your other armies?

You could convert the Storm Talon to carry the same weapon load out as the Nephilem or Dark Talon and use it as a proxy.

Thats what I plan to do with the Nephilem for my Black Templars, I like that model a lot so I want to use it. Just make sure it has the same type of weapons.

I'd say the cheapest and best way to shoe horn it into a non unbound army would be to pick up another storm talon and a landspeeder and run them as a Raptorwing formation. Paint the, up as whatever vanilla chapter you want, it's a Ravenguard formation, but all the nilla chapters can get access to it through the Angels of death book.

It's a nifty little formation, the talons come on automatically turn two, and the landspeeder can act as a spotter for them, it nominates a unit within line of sight and 18 inches, and the talons get rerolls to hit or wound against it...can't remember which, maybe be both lol.

This. Runs well in both competitive and casual settings.
Edit: note you'd need and Land Speeder to run this formation too

If you're worried about competitive play the previously mentioned deathwatch idea was a nice one, even if they can't ride in it as was supposed. Take a tac squad and Chaplain Cassius to fill out your Allied Detachment and you're set to run it in games. It'd be a bit cheaper that grabbing a second Talon and a LS, plus it'd make a nice little force to expand upon later. Could add a dread, some more marines, etc. etc. You know how it goes

That's funny. Sometimes I do the same thing. I bought a Brainwraith and now its on my desk threating me to start a Sylvaneth army.

Do you have a fair amount of standard marines stuff with your DA? (Tacticals, Assaults, Devs etc)

If you want to use the Talon as it is you can proxy your DA as standard marines fairly easily.

Otherwise I'd go with Brutus_Apex suggestion of converting it to a DA flier weapons load.
