Anyone have these models or convert some rules for the current edition?

I'm a huge fan of specialized models for painting (Currently painting up Deathwatch Overkill).

Any other cool models that people recommend grabbing to paint up?

Main Force - About 2000 pts painted - about 9 billion of unpainted/conversion bits

One of my buddies has them. At some point I plan on updating their rules for 7th.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I have them, and I love them. They are possibly one of the coolest things ever forgotten about by GW. I pray that they one day get officially updated.

I remember back in 3rd edition when the squad got their "Super Special" rules in white dwarf. Everyone was an independent character, everyone did something special, you only got those 12 guys (and a Chimera if you wanted it) no matter what the actual game size was. (I actually abused that last one once when we had a 300 point tournament and I was able to bring 450 points due to that rule).

These days though their special rules are a tad lackluster. You can't do much with a Heavy bolter, a missile launcher, a meltagun, a sniper rifle, and a couple plasma pistols. A bunch of Guardsmen with lasguns is hardly intimidating.

The only really competitive model was Grease Monkey. And that was only because he could repair or hotwire any damaged or wrecked vehicle on a +2. If you could manage to kill an enemy Land Raider he could run over, fix it, then hop in and drive it around.

That being said, I'll never forget the time I got Brains killed (which Hulk-raged Ox into a Strength 6 beast). He then ran over an one-punched a Dreadnought to death.

GW could surprise us with some updates. Maybe a few little formations with special rules, including Last Chancers, Tanith 1st, Ciaphas Cain with Jurgen and his Valhallans and other book-based units.

But I doubt it will ever happen, because new units for Space Marines are surely more important than this.
