Have you guys seen the new models for sm? I was wondering what the population of this forum thought of the models and what will you use them for.
I personally might buy them. Mostly because I got word that my friend said he might start a 30k army. I wanted to buy those first for the core army. And buy the other elite models on forge world
Also. Are they worth buying?

Well yeah they're pretty good.
i wouldn't buy the individual boxes, better to buy Betrayal at Calth and split out the kits.
Obviously FW models are beautiful, but you pay a cost.
The contemptor is probably the only one where I'd get the resin first (the legion specific contemptors are awesome.)

They came out in fall of last year so they're not really that new haha. They just got reboxed individually with a considerable mark up.
But yeah, they're nice. Not as well detailed as the FW resin tacticals but you definitely get what you pay for. But I would either go ebay or get BaC. Don't get the individual boxes at full retail as they are high way robbery.

GREAT! .... If you love MK IV armour (I think it's meh) and Cataphractii armour ( I like them )
so, all in all, I'm okay with them

I really, really hope they release plastic Mk. II or Mk. III. Mk. IV is too close to 40k marines for my liking.

I kind of hope they don't release plastic mk II or III. The number of riverts and undercuts that make them look so good just can't be done justice in plastic.

That's kind of the point. MkIV can be in either setting. MkII-III isn't really that common in 40K so it'd be harder to justify having full squads of them. I agree though, it would be cool.

They're great for buliding the core of your army. As Captyn_Bob said: skip the plastic Contemptor, since it's ugly as hell and grab a FW one, even the standard one. They're miles better than those from BaC.

Honestly, I own 3 Forgeworld models in my 3,000pt Dark Angel army. The rest of it is Calth models, or kitbashed characters.
That being said, I will be adding Forgeworld models in the future. As soon as I can get a month or two where unexpected life events keep draining my funds.

Are you talking about the models released this weekend? All of them were in the Betrayal at Calth boxed game (still for sale).
Lots of people use them as a base for their 30k models.
Are they worth buying? Sure. They are well made. MKIV armor was very prevalent in the HH, so they are relevant for any army. The only question is what MK armor do you like?
I prefer MKIII, so they aren't worth it for me, personally. However, the are very nice looking models. If a box set with MKIII comes out, Mrs. Kronk might not be happy with how much Kronk spends...

I picked up B@C when the thousand sons stuff came out. Throw in a few FW add ons and they look great.
