So the ashen claws are a blackshield space pirate band that were once terran raven guard who got sent off somewhere by Corax because he didn't like them. Now my question is what armor mark would they most likely have? Since corax was one of the later found primarchs would it be safe to say they had a mix of mk 3 and mk 4 armor? And then if they were to have suits of terminator armor would it be cataphratchii or tartaros patterns?
In the one picture of them they seem to have mk3, but I wanted to be sure before I started to buy models

That's Mk 2 armor and is the armor they'd most likely have.
In fact I think if they were part of the original group that was exiled, they would've been isolated from the Imperium even before Mk 4 armor was introduced.
Just because their primarch was found later doesn't mean they're more likely to have later armor marks. If anything, as the oldest brothers of the legion, they'd be more likely to have older marks instead.

Well they were favored by Horus and Corax exiled them in 002.M31 and the dropsite massacre occurred in 006.M31, so I did figure maybe they did get some new mark of armors and the mk4 was around then. But then again it seems like the timelines are muddled

They are described as mostly being in Mk2 armor. I would say go for Mk2 and Mk3, but nothing else. Just shows how they weren't exactly favored sons. Cataphractii, too. No newer versions. Xiphon would be a good fit, since it was an older model craft, though the Lightning is probably better.
I would use a lot of Anvillus and Kharybdis Pods, too. They are all about the orbital stuff.
Blackshields totally got a boost now too, as Apothecaries now work in Marauder squads! And Assault Squads, which also got cheaper. Lots of fun options!

Cool thanks!
What rite of war would fit their fluff best you think?

I would say the best WbW for them is Outlanders, but that is is my fav, mostly because the Nemean Reaver is a good HQ choice and Rad Grenades are mean. Chymeraie is the 2nd option, picking the Fear, Fleet, Rage, and -1 BS, must Sweep portion. The rest are more fluffy, it seems.

Blackshields cant use Rites of War.
But for the traits they do get, i agree with the above, Outlanders, for Rad Grenades and Deepstriking.
