Hello,

I have been on hiatus from 40K since the end of 5th edition and I'm coming back to it and building a new Space Marine army. I have looked through the books and it seems that the basic Force Org is the same (Combined Arms now) but with the multitude of supplements I wanted to be sure the below is actually a legal army. I'm not looking to do competitive but I think there is still value in having some structure to the game (though unbound looks like some silly fun) even when having casual games to maintain some difficulty and drama.

Anyways, here is what I would like to run:

Chapter Tactics: Iron Hands

HQ

Techmarine - 90 points
- Auspex
- Boltgun
- Power Axe
- Conversion Beamer

Troops

Tactical Squad (10 man) - 250 points
- Boltgun Sergeant
- Grav-cannon and Grav-amp
- Flamer
- Razorback (Heavy Bolter, Dozer Blade, Extra Armour)

- Boltgun Sergeant
- Grav-cannon and Grav-amp
- Flamer
- Razorback (Heavy Bolter, Dozer Blade, Extra Armour)

Tactical Squad (5 man) - 170 points
- Boltgun Sergeant
- Lascannon
- Razorback (Lascannon/TL Plasma Gun, Dozer Blade)

Tactical Squad (5 man) - 170 points
- Boltgun Sergeant
- Lascannon
- Razorback (Lascannon/TL Plasma Gun, Dozer Blade)

Fast Attack

Land Speeder Squadron - 210 points
- 3x Land Speeder Typhoon (Heavy Bolter, Typhoon Missile Launcher)

Xiphon Pattern Interceptor - 205 points
- 2x TL Lascannon, Xiphon Rotary Missile Launcher

Xiphon Pattern Interceptor - 205 points
- 2x TL Lascannon, Xiphon Rotary Missile Launcher

Heavy Support

Fire Raptor Gunship - 225 points
- TL Avenger Bolt Cannon, 2x Turret-Mounted Quad Heavy Bolters, 4x Stormstrike Missiles

Fire Raptor Gunship - 225 points
- TL Avenger Bolt Cannon, 2x Turret-Mounted Quad Heavy Bolters, 4x Stormstrike Missiles

The one rule I am uncertain about is "Relic of the Armoury" as it seems you are limited to one unless you have a Master of the Forge in your list and can then take as many as you want. C:SM 2015 removed the Master of the Forge and Forgeworld is yet to issue a FAQ but they have responded to inquiries advising to just use the HQ Techmarine instead. While this is far from an official ruling it is one that my group is fine with for now until something more official is released (and I will adjust the list accordingly).

Anyways, can anyone advise if the above is a correctly constructed army? I want to have a build in mind before I start ordering kits.

yes looks like a legal old CAD of Marines.

unless something in the forgeworld book prevents you from using other chapter tactics than whatever it says(or some other stuff they made up, you know), you could run iron hands.

im not sure what a Xiphon Pattern Interceptor is, but smells like forgeworld. and i heard of the Fire Raptor Gunship and thats forgeworld too...so..
as you mentioned: older rules without updates sometimes need clarification with your group.

also flyers have their own rules now in the brb(dont know what it was like back then, cause im being ignorant and noobish and to lazy to search)
and theres also the relatively new "death from the skies" supplement, but its use...well check it out and agree how/if you like to use it.

You are correct, the Xiphon and the Fire Raptor are both Forgeworld.

Noobish or not you undoubtedly have more 7th ed. experience than I so I appreciate your look at the list!

you are welcome!

also remember that razorbacks may only carry a max of 6 models.
this does not prevent you from buying them as Dedicated Transports for the Tacs, however.

Yeah, this is something I did back in 5th. I use the Razorbacks as light combat tanks but if the gametype demands it I combat squad the tac squad, stick the heavy in a building, and put the special in the Razorback.
