I've recently acquired 4 imperial knights, and the bits to build 2 more avenger gatling cannons (giving me 4 total), and I want to magnetize these models so I can have some customization.

My first question is: where is a good source for rare earth magnets? Could I find them at a Hobby Lobby or is online the way to go?

My second question: are there any good tutorials out there for magnetizing IKs?

I plan on running them as renegade knights, allied with my genestealer cult broodkin, so they have the option of double guns, which is cool, but I don't want to permanently model them that way in case I want to run them as regular knights, allying with an imperium army.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

http://www.theindependentcharacters.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6858 This was the tutorial I used for magnetizing and has worked really well. As for getting magnets, either eBay or Amazon are your best bet. I personally use Amazon although I think you can find the same magnets elsewhere for a bit cheaper but I'm not 100% sure.

SoCal, USA!

Rather than magnetize, I converted to bayonet mounts.

Detail picture is in my P&M blog:

Thanks. That is really cool.

I might give that a try.

I just got my magnets, and holy crap, I really love magnetizing!

It might not work with every model, but with Imperial Knights, it is nothing but win!

Thanks for the advice, everyone!
