Just picked up another box of black Knights to flesh into my angels. Debating on whether to run a 6 man command squad or make a 6 man Knights squad. Figured someone here might have something to say about it! Not sure which is the best option.

P.s. Tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Command squad is pretty nice. Apothecary gives FnP to the whole squad plus any IC's you choose to attach. RW banner lets you automatically hit and run. Champ is decent as well, especially for only 5 points. If I were you I'd build a command squad, and then any further Black Knights you get can be separate. You only ever need one Command Squad.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 6/26/26, including modeled wargear options and unbuilt models):
Dark Angels: ~17000 Astra Militarum: ~2500 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~3000 | Orks: ~1000 | Stormcast Eternals: ~6000 | Kruleboyz: ~2800 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~2400 | Tomb Kings: ~4800

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.

Does the banner still get the attack with his Corvus hammer? I was kind of confused as to how the weapons for that squad worked. I know the apothecary and champ switch out. Also, could a librarian with shroud of heroes boost the feel no pain if he paired up with the command squad?

The Standard Bearer and Apothecary still have their Corpus Hammers. Their special equipment (the Narthecium and Ravenwing Company Banner) are in addition to their basic equipment. I, personally, think the RW Champion and the Standard Bearer are worth it, and the Apothecary is an absolute must.

Definitely run a RWCS. It is quite good.

I think that the Champion is always worthwhile but the Apothecary never does much for me. The Standard is when you have spare points.

The Apothecary makes an already extremely survivable unit even more survivable. Hard to go wrong there.

My experience has been it adds nothing as I fail every FNP. Those without cursed dice will have better luck.

The chance to survive a Heldrake's Baleflamer or the plethora of Tau/Eldar Ignores Cover with FNP makes an Apothecary an absolute necessity. Never leave home without it.

Ran the command squad fully kitted out and they crushed it today. Definitely the right choice. With the Libby buffing them they were damn near unstoppable. Only came up on 3 fnp's but I'm glad I paid the points for the apothecary. Permanent addition.
