Telltale games is making a Batman game, first episode releases August 2nd!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

There is not this idea.

I was almost interested, but:

In this gritty and violent new story

No thanks. I cannot brook the constant overuse of the word "gritty".

(also I prefer silly camp batman to the dark knight style, it is my secret shame)

My not secret is that I prefer Telltale's more lighthearted and humorous games anyhow.

I thought their Fables game was pretty good, and I suspect that the Batman game will have a similar tone.

I'm definitely interested.

Haven't played any of their Walking Dead games, and have zero interest in them, so I can't use those as a comparison point.

I hope it is more like Fable and less like the Walking Dead, which was both outright depressing and had in my opinion way too many instances of characters picking up and carrying around the idiot ball.

Did you hear that Telltale have added a multiplayer portion to this game?

'Cause that's what I've always wanted in my story-driven single player adventure games: Another person!

Liked the first Season of Walking Dead game, still have S2 to play.
Very interested in this, the detective work heavy storys of Batman always were the best imo.

What really got my attention was being told that you can choose to solve problems as Batman or Bruce Wayne. Is it possible to build a Gotham that doesn't need Batman after all? Will you? Fun stuff!

I would guess that it'll be closest in tone to the Wolf Among Us, which would be more than fine by me. The multiplayer option actually sounds interesting; definitely useful for people streaming the game, and I can see how it would be fun, but I won't be using it.

The wordai locked onto there was actually the 'new story' because everything seen from the trailers so far is just yet anothe rehash of Batman: Year One.

Enough already, we've already had a film series about it. TWO animated films and a major computer game set in it.

Just gimme a normal Batman story for once, not one set at the beginning or end of his careers.

Quick rundown -

Yes, this is effectively a "Year One" setting (albeit with modern technology - this isn't a period piece). The police are hostile to Batman, though Gordon appears to be sympathetic. Harvey Dent hasn't been scarred yet, and is running for mayor. Carmine Falcone hasn't been displaced as the Gotham Crime Boss by the soon-to-be-appearing wave of costumed crooks. And Bruce meets up briefly with his old friend Oz Cobblepot, who just got back into Gotham after being out of the country for a very long time.

On the other hand, there's a rather surprising accusation thrown in the first episode that's not something typically seen in a Batman story. So the story might go in some interesting directions.
