While you guys are going making custom infantry characters, I have been make this innovative curveball. I have experimental rules for Imperial knight Solaria (somewhat unoriginal thanks to DoW3, but this is my interpretation of what the Table Top ver. would be set up, so something to keep in mind) and I just want your opinions on it. Just food for thought, these rules take inspiration for rules/stats from knight crusader, Gerantius The Forgotten Knight, and the Obsidian Knight units respectively, and I want to keep this as close as possible if changes are required. And just for added convenience; I have included said stats and rule definitions using the battlescribe app to get them word-for-word.

Unit Entry:
Lords of War (Adeptus astartes; space marines)

Name & points value:
Varlock Knight Solaria (425pts)

Unit type:
Vehicle (Super-Heavy Walker, Character)
WS: 5
BS: 5
S: 10
FRONT: 13
SIDE: 12
REAR: 12
I: 4
A: 3
HP: 6

Wargear:
Ion Shield, Avenger Gatling Cannon w/ Heavy Flamer (x2), Heavy Stubber, Ironstorm Missle Pod

Special rules:
Fear, Hammer of Wrath, Invincible Behemoth, Move Through Cover, Relentless, Smash, Strikedown, Preferred Enemy (Xenos), Undaunted Knight Standing*, Striker

Stats for wargear:
{Avenger Gatling Cannon
Range: 36"
Strength: 6
AP: 3
Type: Heavy 12, Rending}

{Heavy Flamer
Range: Template
Strength: 5
AP: 4
Type: Assault 1}

{Heavy Stubber
Range: 36"
Strength: 4
AP: 6
Type: Heavy 3}

{Ironstorm Missle Pod
Range: 72"
Strength: 5
AP: 4
Type: Heavy 1, Large Blast, Barrage}

*Undaunted Knight Standing: If Solaria's ion shield is depleted, will confer a 2+ invulnerable save at the cost of a single hull point. In addition, her ion shield can regenerated with half of its hit points once per game. She Also cannot have a Warlord trait, and does not use the rules for Knightly Ranks.

At the bottom, I'll have a poll to see what the total consensus is so I can build on this.

You know a Knight with 2 Avenger Gatling Guns and a Carapace Gun is worth 455 pts (because that's what a Crusader would cost and is what a Renegade Knight costs)

Yours is 425 with an addtional +1WS, BS, HP, I, IWND, Striker, Rage, Preferred Enemy (overly vague target) and your extra strong Ion Shield rule

You are getting a bunch of free stats and rules for a 30pt discount

(also you're not allowed to copy+paste complete rules on the forum)

My bad on the pasting, so I edited this to show only the custom rule I made just for Solaria.

Not good. As crownaxe has said, you have given yourself plenty of additions with a discount. It's better than Gerantius, and 75 points cheaper. It is unclear how the mechanics work in your special rule as it is poorly worded. Not meaning to be critical, I just can't make out how you intend it to work.

I think you need to look it over again, and re-evaluate some of it. It shouldn't be I5. It shouldn't have iwnd. It shouldn't have an additional hull point. You can't just try to buff an already strong unit, you need to balance it against some weaknesses.

Oh look, it's cheaper than an equally-geared Knight and has universally better stats.

This is very much an overpowered "I want to win" kind of special character.

How about this?

I assume we mean this bit:

"*Undaunted Knight Standing: If Solaria's ion shield is depleted, will confer a 2+ invulnerable save at the cost of a single hull point. In addition, her ion shield can regenerated with half of its hit points once per game. She Also cannot have a Warlord trait, and does not use the rules for Knightly Ranks."

So...she gets BETTER once she loses her shield? There is literally no reason not to take one glance from her and take a 2+ invul save (presumably on all sides since this is how it is worded). How does that even work?

And also, Ion Shields aren't depleted. It's just a save.

Congrats, she just became even more broken and powerful by my reading.

Lets make it somewhat balanced. Remove the Preferred Enemy, drop the WS down to 3, BS to 4, Initiative back to 4, 6 HP, and REMOVE STOMP. Give it a special rule where firing both Avenger Gatling Guns at the same target resolves those shots at +1 BS and gives the pinning special rule. Now its a gunboat but can be tar pit if assaulted. Also for the shield why not make it so it has a 3+ invuln directional shield but it drops down to a 5+ invuln if it fails an invuln save. The shield returns to a 3+ when reactivated at the beginning of the opponents shooting phase.

Also I have no idea what the Striker rule is.

"Hold my shoota, I'm goin in"
Armies (7th edition points)
7000+ Points Death Skullz
4000 Points
+ + 3000 Points "The Fiery Heart of the Emperor"
3500 Points "Void Kraken" Space Marines

I'll give these suggestions a try, Vankraken, and will also remove striker just to be sure we're all on the same page.

I also just want to note that this character is the prelude of me creating Chapter tactics for blood ravens, seeing in the lore Solaria (thus far) is currently working with them in DoW3. I'm still working on what units will have which unique blood ravens tactics, or even what units would be specific to them. I'll give you guys what I have came up with when I finish balancing Solaria.

Well, if it's a full Blood Ravens Chapter Tactic, any Space Marine able to take Chapter Tactics would have it.
That would be practically any non-Unique unit (so no Calgar, no Lysander, no Vulkan He'stan) and excluding vehicles, unless they would be affected, a la Iron Hands. I can't see that BR would get any specific units from C:SM, aside from maybe named Characters with a few Special Rules and suchlike.

Solaria, however, as an ATTACHED Knight, would not be considered part of the Blood Ravens Chapter, so would not benefit from any Chapter Tactics, and I doubt would be in their actual Faction at all. To represent Solaria, an allied Knight makes more sense.
