So I wanted to make a themed TAC CAD list based on meltasguns and the Exorcists lore of being able to adapt to anything they face. This is what I came up with...

Exorcists - 1850 (iron hands CT)
Cataphractii Captain - combi-melta, chain fist, digital weapons

Tactical Squad - 10 bodies, rhino, combi-melta, meltagun, multi-melta
Tactical Squad - 10 bodies, rhino, combi-melta, meltagun, multi-melta
Tactical Squad - 10 bodies, rhino, combi-melta, meltagun, multi-melta

Devastator Squad - 5 bodies, drop pod, multi-melta x4
Ironclad Dread - drop pod
Ironclad Dread - drop pod

Vanguard Vets - 5 bodies, jump packs, storm shield x2, power fist x3, lightning claw x5
Vanguard Vets - 5 bodies, jump packs, storm shield x2, power fist x3, lightning claw x5
Vanguard Vets - 5 bodies, jump packs, storm shield x2, power fist x3, lightning claw x5

I'm in love with kitted out vanguard veterans, but normally run three SS instead of two, but figured FNP would kind of make up the difference. I'll put the Captain with the devastators to confer S&P and absolutely destroy anything that my first turn dreads couldn't handle. Veterans will cover hop or follow the rhinos up the field. MM+4 will objective camp after being dropped off, CM+MG will hunt/sweep in the rhinos with the veterans.

What do you guys think of this list? What would you change, what do you think would make it more fluffy and/or better in whatever regard you can think of?

You are so close to formations, it’s a shame not to go all the way and take advantage of them.

The only thing keeping you from a gladius is swapping one dread for an assault themed choice. You have the captain, 3xtacs, dev, even the aux in a 1st co TF.

If you want to keep with your all melta, all the time theme, 2xMM speeders, or MM bikes/attack bikes would work nicely.

IMHO a more flexible mixed loadouts might serve you better in a TAC setting, but what you have should do OK. The lack of any meaningful long range fire might bite you vs. a highly mobile army. Once you pods land and your rhinos pop, you basically need to hunker down and hold objectives.
