Subject: Best way to sell my dad's Skaven?

My dad & I got into WHFB back during 5th ed, I into Bretonnians (*sob*), he into Skaven.
Over the years, he built up an army put together, mostly painted, plus the 'reserves' in boxes, that equaled over 9000 points in 7th/8th ed rules.
He now has late stage Alzheimer's, and hasn't been able to play for a few years, and will not be able to play again (we're in talks w/ a hospice service).
How do you esteemed folks suggest I sell/split up to sell, his Skaven? I was thinking trying to make some basic warscroll 'sets', as he has enough to make all or most of a few types.
I'm not looking to make 'proper' cost, i'd be happy at half of what I know the raw plastic or metal cost was, to clear up space that I won't have when I size down after he's gone to a home or the Summerlands.
TYIA.

Wrong forum, but good idea to ask.
Selling as a whole army will possibly get you more money with less work, but more waiting.
Splitting will sell faster, but may leave you with undesirable lots left.

Clear pictures will be very helpful whether you go with selling as a lot or breaking it up.

Splitting it will actually get you more money overall, but will be a lot more work. You will only sell 9000 points in one go at an absolute bargain price relative to the price you could get by breaking it up.
Personally though, I'd be wary of selling it unless he has asked you to, or he needs the money. Speaking really frankly, and as someone who lost my dad at a young age (he died at 46), if you can you should keep it, or at least a good chunk of it. You've got some difficult and challenging times ahead, and things that remind you of who he was and the good times you had together will be a life line. Especially something that he clearly loved doing with you.

I'd echo James and say to keep some of his character figures and HQ before you get rid.
You may have already done that, in which case I apologise for the unrequested opinion.
As said.., You'll get a fairer price on ebay if you sell by unit and mention in each listing that you have more for sale.
Clear photos on a clean surface like a table, and a couple of shots if you have time.
We have a sales forum here, with no listing fees, so if you're taking photos anyway, it's worth a look for the sake of a week.
I've heard the going rate for built and painted figures is 40-60% of retail price.
All the best with your father. I've been there with a close relative, and it's unenviable. I will say that allowing others to take on the care is less painful for everyone in the long run. It feels inherently wrong, but it's honestly not.

If it's all painted it mighf be best to try and sell in a single batch, try the trading forum on here or see if there are any local conventions with a flea market or a store that'd sell on uour behalf. Selling in person will have a lot of money and hassle regarding shipping.
If there are unpainted figures, then your best option is splitting then into whfb unit sizes (because thats mors than likelg what they'll be used for) and sell on ebay.
Unfortunately the used price of warhammer fantasy stuff is terrible right now, so it mighf be better to store them and try go sell in a year or 2.

Personally, I wouldn't sell it.
However, if you're set on selling, I'd sell it unit by unit on eBay. It makes the most money.

Splitting it up will definitely mean you'll end up with several things that will never move, as warhammer always had a checkered history of units being good one edition only to be utter crap the next.
I would support the whole "warscroll" set idea, or at least bundles you made yourself specifically to move some stuff. Do some research to see what is wanted and what is generally unwanted, and see if you can make bundles based on that.
I find people are much more willing to open their wallets for bundles costing around 60-70 dollars. Anything more and it starts looking like a full-fledged army (which scares off most oldbeards and makes it so that you might as well sell as a whole lot anyways), and anything less then they start trying to pick it apart for the pieces they want.

Unfortunately, my father doesn't even remember playing Warhammer at this point (he's forgotten his wedding day, although he remembers mom's name & her being his wife). He's 71, and I just don't have the ability to store hardly any, on top of terrain & my Bretonnians (which will be as much or more of a pain to offload since they don't even exist now).
I like the idea given to keep a few pieces, but overall, it's gotta go.
Thank you for your suggestion. Automatically Appended Next Post: Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
With 6k of Bretonnians, don't have the space now, really to store and I'll have even less in the move next summer. And my son, who also plays, doesn't want Skaven; more of a 40k fan.
I'll start taking pics & posting to the BST forum in the near future.

When posting them, here or on eBay, it may be worth mentioning Kings of War as well as Warhammer and Age of Sigmar.
Brotherhood - the KoW Brettonian equivalent - is a pretty good army in Kings of War, and you may get some extra nibbles that way. Ratkin are the Skaven counterpart.
So very sorry to read about your father. Of all things in this world, it is Alzheimer's that frightens me the most.Best of luck to you and to him.

If you just want them gone and don't want the hassle and aren't bothered about getting the maximum price, another option is to contact ebay sellers who also buy, like thetrolltrader and offload it that way. If you do list it on ebay, Auldgrump's suggestion will definitely get you more views, which often translates to higher auction finishes. I've personally made a fair bit selling models on ebay, so feel free to pm me if you want any suggestions or help on how to go about it, or how to get the most money.
That aside, I hope you are finding caring for him manageable and not too distressing.

My FLGS also offers an eBay selling service; you drop them off to him, he sells them, takes a cut (~20% maybe) and then gives you the rest. If you've got a place near you that does that, then that might give you the most $ for the least effort.

Agree with Herzlos here it's probably going to give you the best return for your effort.
