I just jumped into AoS a couple weeks ago and bought the Flesh-Eater Courts boxed army, King Vlagorescu's Ghoulish Host. It came with:

* 1x Abhorrent Ghoul King on Terrorgheist
* 20x Ghouls
* 6x Crypt Horrors
* 3x Crypt Flayers
* 1x Varghulf Courtier

I had my first game on Saturday (it was around 1200 points) and got trounced by a Seraphon player with a Troglodon and Bastilodon, but to be fair we were playing a campaign Battleplan (I think scenarios are Battleplans) so I just had to lose my king to lose.

Anyways, I'm curious what I should look at purchasing to expand my force. More Ghouls are a given, since right now I am forced to split into two units of 10 to make them Battleline. I'm not sure what I should be looking at, 2000 points I suppose? I admit I initially came to AoS because they added points, but I find the points to be restrictive since it means, for example, I can't even use the battalion that came with my box because it's not in the General's Handbook, and seemingly people at my local GW will only play with points.

I'm really confused at where to look at to expand since Flesh Eaters don't have a lot of variety it seems, and they don't seem that popular compared to other Death factions. Ideally I'd like to keep a pure Flesh-Eater Court army (for fluff reasons) but I'm not above expanding with other Death alliance units, in particular the skeleton and ghost armies (I'd like to stay away from Vampires, because they don't like the ghoul kings).since the fluff for my Flesh Eater Court has them in a blasted/haunted/desolate land (think every undead haunted area in every video game, ever) so I could see them allying with other undead forces (whom they probably see as allied kingdoms)

Well first things first I would recommend playing several 1500 point games, proxying extra models if needed. This will help you get a hang of things and also give you a better idea of what you want more of. You will need 3 battleline units for 2000 points, the best option being to take a Ghast Courtier and run ghoul patrol using those units (as I mentioned in the other thread). Its a mere 180 point to add that so it leaves plenty of room for everything else, and the outflanking units provide good counters to enemy artillery (like a Bastiladon).

While I don't have specific expansion advice because it comes down to local meta/personal preference with a faction as narrow as Flesh Eaters, I would say to look at their battalions and see if any strike you as fun to build an army around. Battalions are the hidden gem of GHB points at the moment, in that they are very cheap and comparatively powerful but many people overlook them.

Sidenote; can you send me the rules for the Vlagorescu Host battalion? I assign points to all the battalions I can for PPC comp but its tricky to get a hold of the box-exclusive ones.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.
