Hi all.

First time building a list.

Im looking for some help building a fun and yet somewhat competitive Battle Demi company. The Codex is good but just getting a little stuck with the difference with a battledemi and gladius strike force.

So if anyone could help me with a list that would be great!!

Thank you!

Well to start a battle demi company is a standalone formation whilst a gladius is a detachment that requires a core (battle demi company) and an auxiliary choice (anything listed on page 113 apart from the libraries conclave) I can make you a list if you give me a list of models you own or you can make your own with the info above

I find that a lone battle demi company makes a fun, fluffy 1,000 point list. You don’t get the extra rules from the gladius, But frankly, you can do OK without them.

I recommend 3 full Tac squads, and then 5 men Assault and Devs. Chaplain is a decent pick to lead the Assaults, you probably don’t have the points to trick out the captain with what he needs.

Pods or rhinos to taste, but all the Tacs need a ride.

Here is something I tossed together on half a cup of coffee, so take with a grain of salt. It is also biased by what models I own and enjoy fielding, which will probably not match up with yours. 25 points left to play around with.

'Battle Demi Company * (975pts)

Chaplain
Power Armour [Bolt Pistol, Jump Pack]

Tactical Squad [Meltagun, Multi-melta, Rhino, 9x Space Marines]
Space Marine Sergeant [Bolt Pistol, Boltgun, Combi-melta]

Tactical Squad [Flamer, Heavy Bolter, Rhino, 9x Space Marines]
Space Marine Sergeant [Boltgun, Combi-flamer]

Tactical Squad [Flamer, Missile Launcher (Frag & Krak), Rhino, 9x Space Marines]
Space Marine Sergeant [Bolt Pistol, Boltgun]

Assault Squad [2x Flamer, Jump Packs, 4x Space Marines]
Veteran Sergeant [Power Axe]

Devastator Squad [4x Lascannon, 4x Space Marines]
Space Marine Sergeant [Bolt Pistol, Boltgun]

When making substitutions, a few notes:

This list is a little light on anti tank firepower. You have the Devs, the melta Tacs, and that’s about it. The lone ML can help out in a pinch, but after that you are at krack grenades. Using the spare points to hand out melta bombs is one solution. Cutting one tac squad in half to fit them into a TLLC razor is another. How much you need depends a lot on your local meta.

I like Assault Marines becasue they are iconic, and sometimes it’s nice to get some chopping in. But they can easily be subbed out for the other options the demi-co offers. Bikes are the mechanically superior choice. The other main job they provide is a place for the HQ to hang out. Where else is he going to go in a demi co?

Once you have a solid 1k demi-co, stepping up to a full Gladius is easy. I tend to build my lists in modular chunks. Mostly so I can pack one thing, and adjust what I put on the table based on the points my opponent wants to play. For example, just add a 250 point 10th company TF, and you have a 1,250 Gladius. You can use optional things like the dreadnought and command squad to help trim out lists.
