As the title suggests I am thinking of starting Infinity. After having a look over the basic factions I have decided that Panociena are probably the best ones for me - or at any rate they are the ones I like the look of - but what I really need is a bit of advice on where to start. So far I have downloaded the rules and army lists from Corvus Belli and I have two models,
-Joan of Arc, who I would like to incorporate into my army and
-the old (IE, not Scorpion tail) Maghariba Guard TAG which I picked up because it looked good.
Is there any advice you jolly lot can give me, and in the meantime can I start playing with just the TAG (the box says it is a starter set)?

I'd say if PanO is your team buy Ice Storm starter box. Just the PanO models are worth like 40 bucks. Find a friend and split the box...

Or find *me* and split the box

But anyway, if you're planning on PanOc then the Maghariba, while it is a nice model, won't be of much use, unfortunately :/
Perhaps you'd be interested in the Military Orders if the likes of Joan are to your liking?

TAGs are fun to play with as they can kick a lot of ass, but just as with any tank in an urban environment it needs support so it doesn't just get swarmed and wasted unless you really know how to use them.
If you get some line infantry like Fusiliers as part of a PanOc starter you can learn the game and still have them as part of a valid force, unless of course you're more interested in the Military Orders as a full-on sectorial.

Thanks guys, you have been a great help. I am probably going to get the Ice Storm box and keep the Nomads as a spare army.

Gathering the Informations.

You do know that the PanOceania starter set is available by itself, without you having to split a box right?

Yeas, but at the same time I would like to have a spare army for friends to use. I find it helps get others in to the game if you can have two starting armies ready.

You'd do well to grab the Op: Icestorm starter as you also get terrain and some introductory missions and rules. It's a lot easier to get people into the game when you can show them the elegance of the core mechanic, rather than throwing them directly into the complexity of the game.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

Ash Barker has posted a pdf document as a guideline for 150 point games once you've done the missions in Icestorm/Red Veil which may be of use later on too.

But this is certainly something to look at after you've started the game and before moving onto the standard 300 points games at a 4x4 board size. I'll echo others and say Icestorm is a good start.
