Hi,

I want to pick some utility knife, should i buy Citadel Knife or another one like Stanley? It's x5 times price difference, any quality difference?

i have the citadel knife, i will say this, its a very VERY solid cutting knife, by that i mean its not flimsy or like hallow aluminum. Looking to see if there are replacement blades for it but other then that, its alright.

Personally i would go with just a nice xacto knight.

To many unpainted models to count.

Do not ever buy hobby products from GW. They are just another manufacturers product rebranded and marked up at least 5 times. Literally any other manufacturer will work as well and cost a lot less. Try xacto or Stanley

+1 to the above, having used a huge range of tools from all over I will literally never buy tools from GW again.

I currently use a Fatmax knife which has served me well for a few years now. Fits standard blades, folds in for safety and it's solid as.

There's nothing wrong with it, but you should be able to find an equivalent or better for much less money. I use a fairly standard xacto.

Just get a generic xacto. As long as the blade stays firmly seated and it's comfortable, there's no reason to go expensive on one. The blade is the part that actually does the work, and they tend to be fairly standard (and replacements are insanely cheap for when they dull/break).

Personally I find citadel tools cheap and flimsy anyway. All the files I got from them lost their grips and went dull, the clippers are awkward and - surprisingly - don't fit many of the components on the sprues. The needle drill is beyond useless, the glues clog up, spill or just go everywhere...

I use a Swann Morton with 10A blades.
Bought a 100 pack of replacement blades for around £11. Should last me awhile.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The knife handle with retractable blade is around £6 btw.

I've been using the same two Swan Norton and xacto knives for nearly 30 years. Great tools.

In that time I've had half a dozen clippers and the latest GW ones are the best by far. I only got them as I was in a hobby shop and felt compelled to spend twenty quid and went for those on a punt. Wow have I been impressed. So if you can get the GW stuff from source manufacturers go for but I'm going to say that if you do get GW tools then you should have gotten a good product at least. Exept that line remover thing, who knows what the feth that's all about!
