Subject: What xenos army has access to the most artillery?

I'm looking for an army that packs a punch at long range, i'm not a huge fan of IG but I have heard some good things about renegades and heretics, I heard they could take a seige list that allows a crazy amount of artillery that also makes the battlefield DT. Are there any other armies that take advantage of lots of artillery and if not, which is the most recent book for R&H?

If you mean specifically long-ranged big cannons, then sadly no xeno force has anywhere close to that of the IG.
If you want shooting though, the Tau is one of the strongest shooting armies in the game. It's just that they rely in medium-ranged weapons on highly mobile platforms rather than stationary big guns like the IG. Even the Necrons have more "mobile" guns, if only because they just march straight forward while firing and just. never. stop. shooting.
If you wanna force the artillery theme, Eldar can actually do it. Vaul's Wrath Artillery batteries are decently powerful and Fire Prisms can fire together to drop something big on the enemy. But eldar can do other stuff so much easier...

Yeah I already have an eldar force and the absolute stupid blind hate us eldar players get pretty much makes me not very interested in investing more cash into them until the hate dies down. Heard anything about R&H, they are basically cheaper guard with lower LD it seems

Orks can do Artillery fairly well. Mek Guns are probably one of the best units in their codex - Lobbas and Custom Mega Kannons can do some good work.

And if you go with FW, Orks can have some descent cannonade going. You can give Big Traks (tank 12-11-10) with a Supa Canon (60' S9 Ap3 large blast)

I actually want to run an Ork Gun line army where I have 3 Batteries of Mek Gunz, 3 units of Lootas (obviously multi CAD) and a bunch of Shoota Boyz, will it be competitive? Hell no, but it would surprise a few people thats for sure.

R&H are in Imperial Armour 13, they're a fairly flexible list that can do a lot of stuff. The sheer unreliability of individual units (WS/BS2 and Ld d6+4 for most of the army) will take a bit of getting used to. Depending on why you aren't a big Guard fan they may be more or less interesting, and Krieg (the Guard siege warfare/artillery specialist list) may be worth looking at.
Other than that as said above Tau and Orks are probably your best bet. Necrons don't have much range or volume of fire and favour a combined-arms approach anyway, Tyranids don't have very many guns, Eldar of all shapes take a more precise approach to the game and tend towards short-mid ranges anyway.

I would love to run siege krieg but the IG platoon grouping gets really pricey and the artillery itself is pushing 120 per piece, which I need many multiples of each.

I wish Tau had artillery. :( In real life modern militaries still use it. Which the Tau were based off of then add mecha and some anime in.
Anyways on topic. I would echo the orks. The problem being they are orks and very weak. That's all I'm familiar with.

Tyrannic Biovores are still incredibly powerful and relatively cheap for what you get. Barrage with AP 4 is pretty nice against non MEQ armies (other xenos).
You can also run Harpies/Crones for blasts and more spore mine shenanigans, as well as Mucolids or Sporocysts for kind of a fluffy blow-up-in-your-face list.
The Exocrine has a large blast, but still close range. There is a tyrannic formation for a Living Artillery Node or something like that featuring an Exocrine, Biovore's or Carnifex or something and some warriors to keep them in line. FW monsters have powerful biocannons but no artillery.

On the FW site there is the siege of vraks book as well as IA 13, not sure which I actually need and I dont really want to spend over 100$ on books.

With Ork Mek Gunz you can take 5 per Mek Gun unit, so if you can afford the models you can take a bunch of them.

orks are the way to go if you want tanks and artillery, followed by tau as a close second if you consider storrmsurges and riptides to be artillery.

Just a minor nitpick and you guys can go on with the thread...
Renegades and heretics, by definition, are human, and thus not xenos.
That is all.
Carry on. : D

This results in some serious issues. - Renegade artillery is just better in dmg output for your points. And Ork atillery doesn't have the top killer guns. Eldar have atillery, Thats it. And both eldar and ork atillery can just be out shooted by your regular TAU list.

Tau and Orks, I think. Both of these armies have some great arty pieces, but they're still out-shelled by IG.

Pretty much all my ideas have already been written in this thread but I'll write up my opinions anyway:
If you consider Riptides, Stormsurges and maybe Broadsides artillery then I would highly recommend the Tau to you. Lots of high strength/ AP shooting at mid-long range while being able to deal with almost anything pretty well (except melee units), you'd be set.
As others have said, Ork Mek Guns are good, and are ACTUAL artillery, so you could go with them. I don't have much experience with orks so I can't give too much advice, but I believe Lobbas are a solid choice.
And last but not least, Eldar. Their tanks are decent at mid range, can pack quite a punch, and look pretty good too. If you think Tau suits are artillery then so are Wraithknights and Wraithlords, sooooo.... Yeah. IIRC they also have an artillery battery or something like that.
Hope this helps!

I decided to bolster my chaos army with a bunch of rapiers acting as artillery and running cultest swarms. Anything else I could add to make it competitive? (Competitive for CSM, that is)

In hindsight, if your going for play-ability I would avoid orks, Our Artillery is sadly one of the best units in our dex but its not that great, our best gun is Range 36 and gets hot, plus LD5 is a serious issue, you force a single morale check and that artillery units is pretty much done for.

Yeah I use to have a decent ork force but sold them, it's no fun at all to be killing more of your own troops than enemies. I do miss them though!

I just spent some time reading the Vraks Renegades list and I'm changing my recommendation. You should go for them, they let you fire blasts into melee and would be hilarious.

Right? Renegades seem so awesome. What book will I need to run a list with them, and can they take rapiers? I have some rapiers on order and have no idea what book they are in.
