I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Knights of Ruin (all 6 of them...thx ebay ) and have been debating how best to run them... are they viable at 2000 pts or a point sink ? Is Archaon needed to make the most of them ? Which battalion suits them ? 2 units of 3, a mob of 6, only 3...etc,etc.

Being a Daemon/ Mortals of Chaos player for years now I have lots of gifts from Papa Nurgle and creepy Uncle Tzeentch to aid my heralds of woe but am looking for ideas, and community input.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
My first impulse is to run Archaon with them in order to Mark them (Nurgle) and help get the tally up and running ASAP. The knights bring the hitting power that the plague father's troops need and the Tally makes the Knights nearly untouchable to conventional attacks (ie less then rend -2, and non mortal wounds).

Small Archaon is good with them, definitely. That +1 Attack really ensures that their attacks hit.

My preferred weapons are the Ensorcelled Blades though that has an inherent weakness to things like Saurus Guard if you're playing against Seraphon.

And if you have Archaon, it won't hurt to have Fateweaver around as insurance to have a good chance at rolling double 6s for his insta-kill sword.

I do have a Fateweaver :Archaon's sword ability or stealing back to back turns by manipulating fate seem like the best uses to me.
Also have Sayl , the faithless so tossing Archaon or Varanguard 18".... or both is an option.

Also leaning towards the 6 attack swords vs their other 2 choices...though Fellspears in certain army builds/ match ups might be better.

Tip: Once per game, the Varanguard can pile in and attack twice in a combat phase. The Chaos allegiance ability says that when a unit attacks in close combat roll a dice, on a 6 they get +1 to hit that phase. Ideally, wait until a turn where you roll that 6, then choose to pile in and attack twice. You'll get the +1 to hit from the previous roll, and get to roll again (the effects stack if it triggers twice).

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.
