Hot off the heels of their latest cashcow, MGSV, Konami realises nobody buys MB Coins or bought Cloaked in Silence so they decide "GENTLEMEN, WE MUST RELEASE A HIGHLY IRRELEVANT GAME WITH METAL GEAR IN THE TITLE, THEY'LL BUY IT UP!"

With the Pachinko machine market crashing and Dueling Network (YuGiOh!) being a thing, lets to a Resident Evil 7 and make it have nothing to do with any pre-established storylines. Let's not even try to follow up what we cut off and let's just give up because we don't have Kojima.

Colour me unsurprised at this.

Apart from the fact it looks like a zombie survival shooter or something, nope.

Theres a trailer on YouTube. An for XBOX ONE owners it was on the bottom right of the community tab.

Only info I know is that's it's a 4 player co-op where you play as soldiers that went through worm holes during the attack on mother base and end up thrown together to fight zombies ( oh the joy) and at least one metal gear.
Part of me was ooooh a new gears game already, then saw the zombies and thought balls.

If it were going to be a full priced AAA game, I'd agree.

That would make sense for any franchise besides Metal Gear. Metal Gear was never a 4 person coop vs. zombies game. This just seems like a misstep, especially since Kojima left.

Games evolve, but this is more a step backward. How would you like "Legend of Zelda: Infinite Warfare" or "Final Fantasy: Minecraft edition"? There are certain pairings that clearly detract from the source material.

Honestly this is.. Just strange to have an evolution to, I mean multi is fine but the games haven't really crossed to literal zombies, the closest being bodies being controlled by nanomachines within themselves that's being manipulated by a doll owned by a psychic six armed lady possessed by the ghost of a psychic.. Metal Gear does have it's strangeness to it.

But literal zombies? Kind of new, and a bit of a downgrade as it's the easiest, copout thing unless there's a decent explanation behind it all. Not to mention people have been inundated by zombie games for a while, so its not even a fresh market.

I've been reading all about Metal Gear: Survive for the past few days, and I can't help myself go into a giggling fit; Konami wants to try and prove that they can still make the MG franchise great without Kojima, and the first thing they come up with after he leaves is a co-op zombie survival FPS, perhaps the most generic type of multiplayer game in the most saturated genre of games.

It really goes to show how out of touch Konami is with the rest of the world, alongside all the other insane shenanigans they've pulled in the past.

And yes, we have no evidence to say that this is a terrible game, but in equal stretch nobody has anything that can back up the game being good other than probably hollow promises. Trailers are built and released to be judged by people, and hopefully their judgement results in interest in the game. Metal Gear: Survive is just hilarious garbage in terms of that.

Would I liked to be proved wrong? Well most of the time I would say yes, but honestly I don't want to be in this case. Because in the immortal words of Jim Sterling, Konami is Konami, and Konami is the worst.

Uhg. Unless this comes out and people are just shocked at how incredibly fun and deep this game is, I won't even bargain bin this title

Good luck working out which version of the game has that in it

It was the original version. It's not on the HD collection because Ape Escape is owned by Sony and the HD is multi platform....
