Hello.
So, I am a bit at odds with the Hemlock Wraithfighter. It's a nice enough model and all, but I have problems accepting it as a pilotted airplane when there are giant, autonomous wraithknights stomping around. Thus, I have gotten it into my head that the Hemlock should be something more akin to an autonomous flying construct, hence the Wraith Dragon idea.
Either way I look at this, it is going to be a ridiculous project to get a Wraith Dragon functional, much less rather nice looking. The best idea I have come up with so far is a relatively involved heldrake conversion using leftover parts from an Eldar flyer kit being used to make the Crimson Hunter, the leftovers from a wraithknight kit being used to make a skathach, and various bits and pieces I have currently from previously assembled wraithguard and a wraithlord.
So, does anyone have any helpful suggestions

Quick point of order, Wraithknights and larger wraithbone constructs require a pilot to keep the spirits animating the machine lucid and directed. Smaller ones can make do with nearby, living Eldar.
Have you considered any of the old High Elf kits?

Even if the Eldar made a wraithstone piloted jet, I don’t see how much different it would look to the Hemlock. The cockpit might be smoothed over, or it could have a few more of those spine/vane things, but I don’t see how it would be fundamentally different.
That said, it should be interesting to see what you come up with!

if I'm not mistaken, the hemlock IS wraith piloted. The codex says that a spiritstone flies it and the warlock inside does warlock psyky things to the people unfortunate enough to be outside.

Fluff-wise there have almost always been living "aids" to the spirit stones used to pilot Titans, Knights etc. This goes back to the early 90's.
The old Revenant Titan featured three Eldar pilots in addition to the spirit stone, as back-ups and assistants. The old Towering Destroyer Knight had one I believe. In that version of the game if the Spirit Stone (best stat line) was destroyed the Eldar could take over but the vehicle became far less effective.
Ignoring all of that, if you want some aesthetic motivation, look at the Eldar ships for Battlefleet Gothic. Their wings and vanes look similar to dragons and could help give you an idea of what it may look like.
Good luck!

I was a little off - the Spiritseer pilots and the spirit controls the guns
Likely then, just fill the cockpit and dont put a pilot in if you want a purely spirit driven one

Ok, I will admit that I have not necessarily been reading fluff descriptions of units beyond what I get through their datasheet, so I am not up to date on that.
The wings being like the ships' is a fantastic idea! That makes a lot of sense to base it after. And it means I don't have to spend money on a model I'm going to horrifically mutilate. Brilliant!
