So we've got Deathwatch which I think is great, but when o when are we going to get a BT supplement or codex? The truth is, I'd be fine with a couple of formations that allow the use of Crusader Squads. I'm not asking for much...am I?

Patience. There are four Codexes and three supplements of Space Marines. There are four Craftworlds, two Hive Fleets, and any number of Tau septs in line ahead of the BT.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

How about we give any subfaction of any army that isn't space maroons a turn before we make Codex: Yet Another Space Marine Army.

Things that would be far better to release:

-AoD style book containing rules for all the IG regiments, in line with the Cadian rules that came out in MontKa

-Codex: Genestealer Cults

-A real Sisters of Battle+Inquisition release with a new codex

-AoD style book for Orks folding the Waaagh Ghazgkull supplement stuff in with Speed Freeks, Mek Mobz, and Snake Bite style savage orks

Anything, ANYTHING but more space marines at this point.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

My main painted army is BT and I hate to say there is a LONG line in front of this.
We got a nod of the head in the latest SM supplement so I do not have much hope they will be seen in a special codex any time soon.
I of course agree you have your heart in the right place!

Biel Tan, Alaitoc, Ulthwe and Saim-Hann are all waiting for their own supplement rules.

And no, just "having the options" doesn't count, because the BTs are still one step ahead of them by having the Crusader Squads and 3 special characters (ulthwe is the closest by having a grand total of 1 special character). And all of these had their own rules back then too. Hell Ulthwe had TWO sets of rules before being watered down into generic eldar with more seer councils.

And that's not getting into even more obscure stuff like Kroot Mercenaries, Snakebites, Speed Freeks, etc.

Really what they should do is do mini books for these things, not necessarily with additional units, but with formations and such to make them feel different. So like Ulthwe would get a formation that focused on Guardians, Speed Freeks would get one allowing all Bikers/vehicles, etc.

I sympathize, I remember when BT first were their own thing n Codex: Armageddon in 3rd and they seemed like a really awesome army (came close to starting a force myself)

I'm not the first to make this observation, but Sisters of Battle need a new codex far, far more than the Black Templars do.

No. Sick of marines. I made one exception for the DW since they are the only way I like my marines, but we absolutely do not under any circumstances need any more marines. Not even Blood Ravens which I would like to see.

New Xenos please GW. Or update all the existing Xenos species with large Tau style updates.

What do you even need from your own supplement? I'm really curious.

Probably their own broken Decurion and something to compensate for the lack of librarians, like the blood tithe mechanic.

IMHO black templars should be poretty high priority, they used to have their own codex after all

I wish they released Black Templars instead of Blood / Dark Angels...
Black Templars are a lot less codex compliant than those two, made artificially different.
They could have made Dark Angels with the C:SM. Now, we have too many Marines army to do one more. Such a wasted opportunity...

Actually they need models far far more.

If they had them and the usual formations / Detachaments super cheese they would be fine.

Black Templars are great - love the Helreach novel - but their own codex may lead to their version of Wolfy Wolfman rinding Wolves.............

You mean crusading crusaders going on crusades.

Oh and lots of crosses, swords and chains.

Are we sure we want GW to write something?
It could go very badly:
Note: I have listed things as half-funny and then it got rather real... I may have been possessed by Mat Ward <shudder>:
Spoiler:
More chains is always a plus, maybe chained to the neophyte for extra giggles.
I am sure a personal "meat shield" rule would be lovely.
More fire for burning the heretic, some SOB or Salamanders rule we can steal would be awesome.
Also getting angry and charging forward is a thing so extra dice to charge into melee and/or replace "have no fear" with GAACF.
Yeah, and believing in the emperor so much they get extra dispel di... <ahem> psychic pool dice to deny a few things (are they dwarves?).
Oh heck, they are so much in religious fever they have a FNP of 6+ for being nice guys.
PLUS they can hop out of any vehicle and go straight into melee if they give up their shooting just for that special flavor.
AND can substitute out any boltgun for a bolt pistol for free.
I figure since the BT are a bit on the too large size I was going to have them contribute their tithe a little more to the Deathwatch.
It will explain my allies a bit and also why so many darned BT are in the DW I have.
I think they are going there for the better shotguns.

I would really love to see a supplement that includes rules for a Black Templars Strike Force. A special Detachment that focuses on Crusader Squads and everything that makes Black Templars cool. Hell, I would be okay if they just put it in White Dwarf. Black Templars deserve better than they have received.

I suppose one that allows access to Crusader Squads is what a lot of people are after.

What would be the primary difference in having that? Seriously? If you want Objective Secured Land Raiders the CAD does that...

I wouldn't know. I don't play BT. But a Detachment that plays to their strengths that gives bonuses instead of ObSec might be a good thing. Who knows. My Blood Angels are finally getting something (hopefully good), so I am happy. I just want my fellow Sons of Dorn (I play Crimson Fists as well) to get something nice. Heck, some relics and a rule that let's them substitute Crusader Squada in formations would be all they really need.

You know, not everyone is a WAAC here. If I want to play a Black Templar army and not a UM one, it's because of the fluff. So, obvioulsy, I want to play BT with crusader squads. But if I use crusader squad, no more formation...
The other chapters got their formation, why not the BT ?

Because even GW realizes the ridiculousness of how many flavours of power armor they have created now.

Honestly the BTs getting their own codex would be like the Sons of the Cyclops getting their own codex.

Ultramarines and the FW chapters didn't. Use the Gladius or just the CAD and roll on your trait table, which is actually pretty good.

Ultramarines and the FW chapters don't have a unique troop choice. I'd argue the Black templars need a decurion more then Imperial fists or raven guard did.
