Just bought one painted and noticed that the shaman's arm is missing. He is sitting on a seat with the web behind him and there was also the circle or Grots that had 4 grots with bows and 3 grots with spears.

Read the rules and it seems there can be 2 builds and the one as the flinger i dont have the parts for. So it will be the shaman and 7 grots.

So my question is how many grots besides the Shaman come in the box? How many are you allowed to have riding on the spider ? I didnt see a number anywhere.

I got the pdf from GW for the build but it also doesnt really explain how many or how many actually come in the box.

The rakky has three options, a howdah full of archers then you can add either a catchweb spidershrine or a flinger.

I cannot speak for AoS, but in 8th it was better to field this unit vanilla. If you want a variation make up the shrine with the shaman on it and clip it to the howdah so its removable. There is a case for the shrine, it gives the great shaman loremaster, so your Little Waargh access is reliable. You will want to avoid cannon though.

The flinger is not worth having.

If you don't like the howdah leave it off, many people did this. Its the spider you want, and it wont let you down, unlike gobbos. There are a lot of secondary attacks from the goblin bows though but there are also a lot of spider miniatures for the base. They could be spitting spiders, so you don't need to add gobbos if you dont want to.

Want to use it with the Shaman (trying to find one without the broken arm) and howdaw with the 7 grots.

Trying to find out the number allowed as each attack would help.

Didnt see anything about Spitting Spiders on Warscroll..

In AOS a flinger is an attack 18 inch range, 4+ hit, 3+ wound , d3 wounds. but since it is shaman or flinger, I am going to take shaman until I get more Arachnarok Spiders

Website says there are 8 crew.
You use the stats on the warscroll regardless of how many crew are actually on it or how they are equipped. Crew really aren't an option, just use the stats it lists, 4 bow and 4 spear attacks.

I will look again to find the number of crew as 8. The figure I bought is then missing a spearman and Shaman is missing right arm. And in AOS every figure gets to attack so having as many as I can on the spider helps, even if they are not so good rolls to hit or wound.

I didnt even notice the number of attacks when looking for the amount of crew. Thanks for that.

sure thing. keep in mind though that regardless of the actual number of crew the attacks are still determined by the warscroll.
I think that this is what orlanth was saying.
you could eave the howdah off completely and it would still attack as if the crew were there.

Yep. If you don't like the howdah, and many don't, use the little spiders to represent the extra attacks under 'counts as'.

I can attest to the howdah being a huge pain to get on there just right. Very small to fit a finger and 7 goblins on. I ended up putting 2 gobbos in front on the base.

There are a total of 9 Goblins/Grots that come with the Arachnorok Spider.

Three have spears and four have bows. The assumption is that you will always have these seven models on the Spider's howdah (the wooden framework). One is holding a large egg sac. He is the "ammo loader" for the Flinger option. The last has his two arms spread and has a sort of spider web/wing between his raised arms and the side of his body. He is the Shaman for the Catchweb Spidershrine option. You can choose no Flinger/Shrine, Flinger or Shrine. In Age of Sigmar, the Shrine is usually the best option as it gives you access to the Gift of the Spider-God spell, which is a great spell and really boosts Spiderfang Spider Riders by making them more killy.

From your description of the Shaman missing an arm, I'm assuming the previous owner used the small plastic Goblin Shaman that is sold separately and added it to the kit. The included Shaman is one piece plus a head, so I think it would be hard for an arm to fall off.
