so with the new HH book coming soon about the battle of Prospero, has anyone heard any rumors or have guesses as to what the new rules for Thousand Sons will be like? I've heard rumors about the Space Wolves but nothing for Sons yet.

None on this end. FW is usually very open with the upcoming releases but not the rules themselves.

Are you planning on building Thousand sons?! :O

IIRC, they said a lot of playtesting went into TS, as they could obviously break the game if they got their psychics wrong.

Inferno should be a really interesting book, since SW and TS figure to be two of the most divergent Legions, for different reasons.

The only thing I know about Thousand Sons is that they will get a psy assasine unit (stated by Alan Blight at the Open Day this year.)

But out of couriosity what rule are known about the Space Wolves?

Yeah, I've heard that SW and TS will be the two legions that are more divergent then any other.

I'm imagining that the TS will play similar to the Grey Knights.

Psychic armored monks vs. werewolf bezerkers is an awesome thing to have, even in the more staid 30k lists.

I keep hearing that Thousand Sons and Space Wolves will be divergent from the other Legions but I'd really like to know how much. I realize we probably won't get an answer until Inferno but as someone building a Space Wolves army for 30k I'd like to know that my squads won't have to be completely redone!

I like to think that:
1) They will remain pretty shooty and psychic focused
2) Would have the different cults represented
3) Scarab occult terminators and maybe 1 or 2 other special units ( I don't know why we're getting the psy assassin unit, they've always been described as non-combat, deep cover agents)

Sadly, it seems like they are doing a lot of fluff changes (adding in Sons of Horus, killing off ALL of the spire guard, changing how certain units worked in the fluff vs. table top), so we'll have to see what happens.

I think the biggest problem, however, would be getting the power scale right. This was a tiny legion that, with no orbital defenses, managed to take out most of the space wolves, multiple cutodes, and a large chunk of the attached sisters of silence, and if they were to represent that: they would be OP :(

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Absolutely I do! They became my favorite "traitor" legion since discovering the HH book series. I'm just trying to best figure out how to start building my force of them so I can get a start on them before Inferno comes out.

Do they a blog or something somewhere of them discussing development of Inferno that you know of?

I've heard through 30k Heresy that the wolves will be getting a distinct type of consul unit, and that possibly they will have limits on some units such as artillery since they didn't often deploy it outside of the Fang. Unfortunately that's all I've heard about them rumor-wise.

Having just bought 2 Calth sets myself, then enough torsos heads and pads for both boxes, im going deep into 30k Thousand Sons

Anyone have a idea on what is "safe" to build right now from the sets? I know they will get stuff later this year, but id like to get started assembling guys and painting to get ahead while I can.

My concern is weapon loadouts?

Bolter Marines. They could be Tacticals, they could be Marksman Veterans there's always a role to play for a Marine with a Rifle in a list. Everything else is very subject to Legion specific rules.

I'm hopeful (and fairly certain) that all of the "core" units will be safe bets crunch wise, and a BAC built as either veterans or generic tacticals would be just fine. My only real concern is more fluff changes as we've already seen/heard quite a few bigger changes already (adding in SoH, killing all the spire guard, changing the hidden ones to be involved in battles (when they really werent), etc. )

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

It's pretty clear GW don't care.

The ones that fought on fenris were specially raised for that battle. Not original Spireguard.
