I had originally wanted to start a Bonesplitterz and Moonclan army, but thanks to the new release, everyone bought up the Bonespplitterz ebay models, lol. Now I swapped the Bonesplitterz for Spider Riders, and I think it will still be fun. I just want some feedback on the list before fielding it, so here goes:

Moonclan Grots
1- Warboss
1- Shaman
40- Grots w/ shields/spears, and 1 Icon
20- Grot Archers
Spiderfang Grots
1- Arachnarok w/ Shaman
10- Spider Riders

While not my intended first army, I think this list has synergy, so I'm curious as to everyone's thoughts. The brick of Grots should get a good save against shooting between Mystic Shield and their own improved Moonclan save, which will help them get into close combat. The Warboss exists to keep them or the Spiders from taking Battleshock, and to help boost their killiness once in combat. The Arachnarok Shaman helps make the Spider Riders much more deadly in combat, and the Arachnarok itself is a nice beat stick. Thoughts?

I'd consider a Spiderfang Shaman. They make the Riders even more deadly.

Glad you said that, it's already in my list!

Swap the Moonclan Boss for a Spiderfang Boss. The boost that he will give to the spider riders and the Arachnarok will be more potent than the boost given by the Moonclan boss to the Moonclan units, especially given the natural synergy with the Shaman casting Gift of the Spider God.

Looking at the points after doing this swap you have enough points to add in 2 fanatics - chuck one of these in each gitmob unit to add a bit of extra punch and some shenanigans.

I meant the separate goblin riding a bigger than normal spider, but not the Arachnorok... the boss?

Grot Warboss on Gigantic Spider but his command ability means he'd need to be your general

I had thought about putting Fanatics in the list instead of the Shaman on foot, but decided for more magic. Wizards seem to be pretty versatile in the game (on paper), either buffing your own units or doing Mortal Wounds to the enemy fairly reliably. One of my next upgrades is definitely Fanatics though, I like the models and the rules.

The boss on spider may be more efficient, but I'd like to try and keep as much of this as Moonclan as possible. For future lists and building my army over time, is the Grot Boss on a Spider so much better for supporting one unit of Spider Riders, or is it at least fairly close? Just curious how inefficient I'm being, lol.

I'm a Night Goblin player, so I'm a little biased, but I'd say you're missing the elements that make Moonclan fun, versatile, and effective. I'd go as far to say you could drop the archers and take four Fanatics.

3,500 (and building) ASM
3,000 Blood Angels
1500 Eldar (abandoned)

AoS - Beastclaw Raiders, Ironjawz, Night Goblins, and Ogors - Destruction remains unvanquished!

I agree the Fanatics are better, I just wanted another scoring unit. I fully intend to add Fanatics when I expand to 2k points. I also want to basically make my next thousand points squigs of all types along with more spears and shields.

Squigs are great. I try to run 15 Squig Hoppers if the points are there; I've found they're quite underestimated and if you're lucky enough to roll a double on the charge all hell breaks loose! Also, Mangler Squigs. They chew through units with ease. On a lesser note, people know how good Mangler Squigs are and often direct all fire there freeing up some of your other units.

Great, I was looking at Hoppers versus just Squigs with Herders. Manglers also seemed pretty awesome, so I'll have to pick one or two up.

In my experience, Squig Hoppers are overlooked, but they turn out to be a higher impact unit than a lot of the cavalry out there.
