OK, as I whittle down my Destruction list, I still have a few questions left. I'm using the Orcs warscroll, and the General's Handbook.

1. I wrote down that Ruglud's Armored Orcs are 140 points for five models, max unit size of 30 models. But the warscroll says the unit is at least 10 orcs. Now I can't even find where I saw Ruglud's point values... I think I misread this one. Can someone help remind me where this unit's point values can be found, or what they are?

2. I'm thinking of taking a Savage orc Shaman for 100 points. It says he sometimes rides a boar. Same thing for the great orc shaman. How much does the boar cost to add? Where is this specified.

I play...

Sigh.

Who am I kidding? I only paint these days...

Ruglands orks are on page 149 of the hand book at 140 per 5 if the min is 10 then you pay 280.
The mount as an option on war scrolls dont cost any extra points to add. I think they were included to cover excisting models and give diffent bonuses to the foot borne model.
hope this helps.

For Matched Play, you use the minimum size in the General's Handbook even if it differs from what's on the unit's Warscroll. For Ruglud, their minimum size is five models in Matched Play.

Thanks both, very helpful.

That's the weird thing: I can't find any "bonus" for taking him without the boar. Why would anyone take him without the boar (unless you didn't have a shaman on a boar, and you're a purist)? Weird.

Unfortunately there is indeed no reason not to, same with many upgrades and weapon options. This is a downside of the simple and easy approach of Matched Play (not saying Matched Play is bad, just that this is a drawback). PPC comp offers granular options and puts the Bonesplittaz Shaman at 90 with a boar upgrade for +15pts, if that helps (PPC has the same points scale as matched play).

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.
