Hello getting into AOS with my 7 year old son would like to ask about easy to learn armies that are forgiving to newbie mistakes for the both of us. I have been playing 40k for 10+ years and want to get into something with my son at the same time so we can learn assemble and paint together. So what are the easiest and most forgiving armies to learn except stormcasts and khorn neither of us like them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nurgle (Daemons and/or Rotbringers) are very forgiving to play because of their sheer resilience; a mistake with them is less likely to get you killed. Seraphon are also pretty easy and again a bit forgiving thanks to how much ignore-rend they have (summoning could make things easier too, depending on how you play it). A phoenix guard-heavy order army will also be resilient and not prone to roll over due to a mistake here and there. Fyreslayers are an epensive but viable option as well. If you are using the General's Handbook for Matched Play rules then Order in general would be good to steer towards since their allegiance is the easiest to use and IMO most beneficial to newcomers.

However, I would strongly recommend to stay away from Sylvaneth since they have a pretty steep learning curve. Heavy-spellcasting armies will also be tricky to use if you are using the Matched Play rules.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.
