Hello,

This is probably the thousandth post on the subject (I did search beforehand and couldn't find much help), but I figured I'd ask.

Now that Age of Sigmar has point values and is a more manageable skirmish game, I've decided to take the plunge with Order/Stormcast Eternals (it's those angelic wings).

I know that, for example, if I were to go Allegiance: Soulblight, I would lose the perks of Allegiance: Death.

If I take a Stormcast Eternal army and take their allegiance, can I still take other models from Order? Mainly Battle Mages. Do I need a formation for this or do I have to take other Battleline models that work with the mages?

Thanks in advance,

Dr. What

Incorrect. Please read the General's Handbook FAQ, the second errata for why you're assumption is wrong..

In order to have the your allegiance be 'Stormcast Eternals', all the units and warscroll battalions must have the 'Stormcast Eternals' keyword (see 'Allegiance', pg.156 of the General's Handbook).

Thank you for your reply!

So assuming I'm reading this right, if I go Allegiance: Stormcast, the mages just wouldn't benefit from the Stormcast stuff?

No. The only way for your allegiance to be 'Stormcast Eternals' is not to take the mages at all as they're not Stormcast Eternals. If you take the mages your allegiance would be Order.

You can take any models/units from the Order Alliance.

If you take Stormcast and Battle Mages you are still Order but no long exclusively Stormcast.

You can still take Battalion warscrolls as long as they aren't specifically Stormcast Alligiance only.

Thank you very much!

Last question: Do mounts get to make attacks as well? Such as the Lord-Celestant on Dracoth.

The mounts attacks are included as weapon profiles on the warscrolls.

So it'll say something like "giant slavering jaws" or "claws and fangs".

So in combat, my lord's dracoth gets to throw out a nibble too?

Oh yes, I play Khorne Daemons. I use a ton of Skullcrushers.

The Bloodletters riding them get a single attack while the Juggernaughts get 3. And the entire unit puts D3 mortal wounds on every enemy unit within an inch on a 4+.

'Murica! (again)

Yeah in in AoS mounts are pretty good on the attack as well as the extra wound(s) for the model.

Note there is no actual benefit to Stormcast allegiance at this time...

Sorry to bring this back up, but I have one more question:

The Vampire Lord's rules state that he can come with Wings or a Nightmare, yet the rulebook with points only lists a generic Vampire Lord. Is he priced to have either one of them or neither?

The GHB provides a very basic cost structure in which a given model/unit costs the same regardless of the equipment or upgrades it has. This leads to numerous cases where there is no reason not to take something since it is strictly advantageous and has no associated cost, what you are describing is one of those.

I found this out when building my daemon army. Coudlnt find the point value for the icons and hornblowers. Realized they are just 'free' and there is no reason to NOT take them. Its counter intuitive coming from 40k where every single piece of wargear has a point associated with it.

It's counter intuitive because one assumes a better version of a model would cost more because it is worth more...

The only drawback to a mount or wings is creating a larger profile by which the model can more easily be targeted by spells and shooting attacks. In the case of the Vampire Lord, specifically, it is often better to not give them a mobility upgrade as they want to hide behind the units they are buffing, as they lean more towards support hero than melee badass.
